yeah, it's definitely in the top contenders. after doing a direct reboot/rewrite last year (which was awesome but EXHAUSTING) i'm looking more for something that provides a good 'verse to play around in, pick and choose the parts of the story i want to tell. with BDS i feel like enough people know it that i wouldn't have to give tons of background in order to just give a bunch of scenes and make them coherent, which is a huge plus. XD

I think you should do Lucky Number Slevin, because I love that movie.

And then you should do Empire Records for art, because epic deserves epic. The end.

i also love slevin to death. that'd be one i'd need to plot out more carefully; i don't want to end up with a 22K fusion fic again, if only because i know my big bang is going to be longer than last year's and i don't know if i can physically write more than 65K words in three months while working full time, lol. but yes, i love the idea of kirk and pike (or kirk and winona, since i'm on a winona kick lately apparently) tearing shit up in the name of revenge. so we shall see. XD

I know how you feel; a story like that could easily run away with you. If you don't do it for this, you should definitely keep it in mind for a later date. :) And I would personally love to see Jim and Winona kicking ass together. :D

yeah i'm leaning towards slevin at this point, with the caveat that i'm going to plot it out first and try to make it as close to the 10K mark as i can. i wrote the uhura/gaila thing in about a week and that was almost 9K so i feel confident i can force it not to get away from me. XD and yeah, NGL, the idea of making winona a starfleet assassin is pretty fucking amazing.

...man, is this challenge tempting. Except, whenever I consider it I get stuck on doing Kiss Kiss Bang Bang but I can't figure it out in my head other than having Jim as Harry because I clearly live to write stories where Jim monologues at everyone.
