Actually, it's a flying tomahto.

I dunno, TR is just an amazingly cool thing to have been a part of. The sense of community (muns & pups), the longevity of the characters, the enthusiasm (when it's there) just combine to make a really singular experience. It took me three tries to make it stick, but goddamn, when it did, it did honestly change my life. It becomes a part of you, an honest-to-god alternate life that's comforting like a wee tropical snowglobe. When other things go to shit, it's like hey, at least I have a gunslinger that bartends and lives in a tree and is best friends with Sandor Clegane and Lloyd Henreid. For almost two years now, I've carried that thought around in my pocket, in one form or another, and it's hard to let go, but I think the scales have finally tipped. I'm dissatisfied with lots of things, and keeping the game's potential in mind just isn't enough anymore. Not even just the game for that matter, but for my own characters-- I don't have the time or the ambition to treat them as they ought to be treated ( ... )

Oh, and re The Magicians...

I listened to most of it on audiobook, and I really enjoyed certain parts of it. I loved all of the early stuff at the school, I loved the arrival of the stranger in the classroom (I don't remember what he was called, exactly) and I loved the sport they played, and I loved their trip to Antartica or wherever it was. xD I got considerably less interested as romantic tensions rose and the lead character turned out to be kind of a prick, and really hated the stories of their lazy pretentious post-school existence, loooooooool, but overall, I thought the writing was excellent, the concept was ridiculously cool, and I'd try out another story in the same setting focusing on new characters in a hot minute.

Hijacking, but whatever:

fdjklfjskl YES. To basically everything you said. The snowglobe, the safe space, the amazing friendships (both muns and pups), how other people don't really get it, but when you DO get it, it's this crazy cult that we all share.... I don't know, it's just intense. It was great to be a part of, and I'm forever grateful for what it was and how it affected me and my writing, but it was time. But I'm glad that we've got each other as we go forward.

♥ Love you, bb.
