The Royal Ontario Museum is awesome. Why can't the Queensland Museum be like that?

Oh wow, Ronald McDonald in a parade. That just so sums up the North American experience doesn't it?!
I know what you mean about talking to fellow Australians. I have one Aussie friend in the city (I had another but she got a job that sends her to Papau New Guinea and I never see her anymore - she had a great accent!), and it's so nice to just slip back into those familiar speech patterns and slang. And have someone who understands where I'm coming from - makes a big difference!
