Just a few things to say.
The Royal Ontario Museum is awesome. Why can't the Queensland Museum be like that?
I had a lot of fun meeting and talking to
aurillia, and wish I hadn't been in such a hurry to leave. I'm glad we managed to see each other! Of course, it turned out that I should have either been in a bit more of a hurry or needn't have hurried at all, as I missed my train back to Montreal. I got to the next train in plenty of time, though, and was able to go back to
ittykat's residence and eat lunch and the two of us got to go see some of Toronto's Santa Claus parade.
Compared to the sort of parade I'm used to (Anzac Day and... well, just Anzac Day), the parades here are quite a spectacle. Didn't actually see Santa Claus, though. I did see Ronald McDonald.
One of the stupidest things I've done in a while (aside from missing an inter-city train by two minutes) is take my computer all the way to Toronto specifically so I can get assignment work done there, and leave the power cord in Montreal.
I actually found it weird to be on trains and walking down the street, and hearing that the surrounding conversation was entirely in English. I caught myself formulating French sentences in my head for things like buying train tickets, only to be surprised to remember that English would do just fine. But the weirdest thing about hearing people in Toronto speak? Canadian accents. The people Kathy lives with are mostly Australian and English, and my ears got re-used to Aussie accents quite quickly. Then we went outside, and not only were people speaking English, they were speaking Canadian. How very odd.
It was also absolutely wonderful to spend some time with someone I've known more than four months (nothing against my Canada-friends, but I haven't known anyone here very long at all), and who knows lots of the same people and places I know and who I don't have to explain Australian things to. Thank you, Kathy. I had fun.
My current least favourite words (they've been my least favourite words before, and I'm sure they will be again) in the English language are "Segmentation fault (core dumped)". And on that note, I'd better get back to work.
