I bet you'd love Discworld, which is the source for the cracky bits! Both fandoms tend towards very creative footnotes.

Key things to know:
The library in question is the wizards' library at Unseen University, on the Discworld. The Librarian is an orangutan.

In the Discworld books, Death has regular cameos as a character. Death always speaks in all caps, without quotation marks.

There is no place on the Discworld called "England".

The Raven King is the key antagonist in Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, which is (mostly) set in an AU England.

LOL!! I've told myself again and again I need to read those. I've gotten ahold of them, finally - just need to put down the Eighth Doctor Adventures and the piles of fanfic long enough to tackle those. *Beams* Sounds like a riot (and my kind of fun). I've enjoyed the hell out of myself, reading this fic - and though I didn't get all the in-jokes, I enjoyed the prim, bantering tone and the overall silliness.

This is great fun. I'm a Discworld fan, but I only have the vaguest of notions about "Jonathan Strange." Didn't stop me from enjoying this, though! :-)

The lexicon only has the vaguest of notions about Jonathan Strange, either. The only essential thing is that it has a lot of footnotes (the starting footnote is verbatim from the text, and is, in fact, the third on its own page).
