It's about 90 minutes away, so that would be quite do-able! The thought definitely crossed my mind. :-)

SQUEEE Ahem, yay!!

The conference runs Wednesday through Friday, but we're taking a couple of extra days so we can see a bit of Chicago together. We don't leave till late afternoon Sunday!

This brought back delightful memories of when we were only a two kid family and Eldest Daughter was only a preschooler and we would go off as a family to Beloved Husband's primary care medical research COOP meetings, generally held at some ski area in nearby NH. I delighted in the way we were together as a family for all the meals and the outdoorsy sleigh rides and sledding expeditions, and the kids were all agog at the televisions that got more than 1.8 channels. At home we sort-of-almost got NBC and PBS in those pre-small satellite dish days.

The trips were always made even more pleasant by the presence of one of the COOP docs, an energetic, earnest, funny, outgoing guy who would assure me that my offspring were the most adorable, gifted, attractive, and wonderful children he had ever seen. I was and still am morally certain that he said this to every mother in the room, but the delightful thing about him was that I was and still am morally certain that he meant it each and every time, for each and every child. Oooo, yay!!

That's weird though. I have a couple of non-Librarian friends on vacation to Disney World right now. He tells of the rides, she posts the dessert pictures. She and I are dessert buddies :D (Of the several librarian friends I have, none are at this conference, however! LOL)
