Ahaha, why did this take me so long to write? D: Probably because it's nonsensical and OVERFLOWING WITH ANGST.
For those of you who aren't
immaculate, the
Laura Bow series is made up of two outstanding point-and-click adventures (released in 1989 and 1992, respectively) that feature probably the most unimportant, minor character father in the history of all

I love how you wrote their relationship in this one. Could it be that John was the first "one" (disregarding, of course, the flings that Carson undoubtedly carried on with) that Carson had an affair with since his wife's death?
I love these two because of how their lives seem to mirror each other. I know that John Bow and Laura are basically rip-offs of Carson and Nancy, but I love them anyway.
Can I say that I think Carson Drew could be my favorite literary character EVER?
Is that weird?
Anyway, you blew me away again with this. I love your writing so much and I am so happy that you were able to finish it.
No one will ever be able to write Carson as well as you, and so I am glad that this is like our own private fandom. Sorry to your flist though... Ohoho I have hijacked your brain?? Beth's friendslist, you all better convert! Carson Drew is a god!!!

Oh man, I was extra mean to him in this, and I'm mean to all my characters. XD But at least we know that Carson gets his shit together in the end. He learns what it means to be a father, i.e., giving your daughter lots of money to go buy dresses and hiring a housekeeper to do all your cooking for you because you're a MAN and men don't cook. And by the time Fenton comes along, he's also learned that falling in love with another man involves more than just sex. It involves being awkward around his wife, buying him lavish gifts, and sending him erotic postcards while on vacation.
GOD, I LOVE CARSON SO MUCH.
John Bow came off as a little creepy in this, but...oh well. He's been around the block a few times since his wife died, so he knows what's what on the streets of New Orleans. Laura Bow would be horrified.
I'm so glad you liked it! <333 :'D Best fandom ever!

This is really, really beautiful. I found John's hypocrisy especially fascinating -- he has no problem arresting boywhores when he also picks up men himself, has no problem breaking Prohibition laws when he confiscates liquor from others. And yet he's somehow still the moral authority by the end, and you manage to sell that, which is brilliant. These are two very flawed men, but their actions, even when they're wrong (and poor, poor little Nancy) are understandable in their circumstances. The writing is gorgeous, too -- very moody, with great sensory descriptions. Fantastic work.
