I loved this story so, so much. When I read it on AO3, I knew it was yours right away, too. (Because you have this awesome way of writing that I'm pretty confident I can catch from a long ways away. It's because I read and enjoy everything you write, I'd suppose ( ... )

You are so sweet. ;___; *HUG* (And my writing is transparent, haha.)

I've always had a special place in my heart for Joe, and I just--I don't know. The image of him being a girl-crazy goober is just SO WRONG to me. I was thrilled that my prompt was to write them as adults, because I don't think that's something I ever would have thought about doing on my own. I tried really hard to make them seem like actual, realistic, flawed people without losing the caricatured charm of their book personalities. I'm glad you enjoyed Frank being...Frank. :) Making Joe gay was completely self-indulgent on my part, but I seem to have pulled it off convincingly(?)

I'm so glad I got this assignment this year. My personal Hardy Boys revival has brought me a lot of joy. And I'm so, so glad you liked the story, because you're really the only person I know who has actually read the books, and your opinion means quite a lot to me. <3

DUDE! This was pretty ace. (You see what I did there?) And, I don't know, I clicked on it thinking, "LOL, Hardy Boys!" and then it was actually deep and emotional and awesome and shit. WHO KNEW?

But... yes, oh man, it was pretty awesome, and that's said as someone who has only a passing familiarity with the Hardy Boys. (I read them in my youth and not since. Though after reading The Case of the Case of the Mistaken Identity, I'm tempted to re-read them.)

Aww, thank you! :) I kind of surprised myself with this one, actually. I think when I saw my assignment my first thought was, "LOL, Hardy Boys" too, but I'm pretty happy with what came out of it. GO ANGST.

Oh, I totally ordered that book, by the way. >_>

Oh, this is just heartbreaking. I've never read a Hardy Boys book, but I figured you'd given enough context for me to take a chance, and I always love reading your writing. As it turned out, the context was plenty, and this was beautiful -- I love the repeating details, and how they all come together at the very end, and I love the quiet pain of this point in Joe's life, and how much you convey without saying it outright. Beautiful.

Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed it, and that's without even having read the books! That's like...a double compliment. :)

The Hardy Boys series (the original one anyway - I'm stubborn and won't read the new ones...) is sort of like comfort food, I think. Not terribly complicated in its composition, but who cares? It makes you smile.

I loved this! Your writing is, as always, beautiful. I think it's awesome how you can make people who've never read the books still understand and enjoy it, which I did, immensely. It left me wanting more, too. :) All of it just seemed so real. Really, a wonderful job!

Aww, thank you so much! <3 Really, I mean, there's not much to know about the Hardy Boys aside from my little intro up there. I love them to pieces, and the outdated dialogue is absolutely hilarious, but in the end, they're mostly just silly mysteries aimed at ten-year-olds. Frank is the cool and collected one and Joe is a hothead. Frank has brown hair and Joe is blond. And all the bad guys are horrible racial stereotypes. :b

But I'm so glad you liked the story! :) It was a fun challenge trying to put a mature spin on such childishly innocent characters. Thanks for reading it. <3 You're the bestest.
