Halloween costume sewing pattern help?

I know I have a lot of crafty friends, maybe someone can help me out. A few years ago I remember seeing a pattern on a website (I'm pretty sure it was this one) for doing a simple child's "big belly" costume that could be any animal you liked by changing the color of the fabric

I am not the good sewing person that you are looking for, but here are a couple of guesses so maybe some better sewing people can tell me I am wrong

Thanks! I learned how to make my machine do a topstitch but I've never actually done it on a project. It's a shiny fabric that will be the dragon belly. I finished the wings; I think they turned out pretty good.

This is a 4-time costume that will never be washed, with all the parties we're going to in the next week, but yeah, it doesn't have to last.

Ok, what I was attempting to explain here was what I could recall of the gusseted pocket tutorial that is explained as one of the last parts of the snack bandolier. I thought that something like that would work for your pouch, but I was not sure how to create the extra space that would be needed in the pouch.

Have you looked at pinterest or youtube for help?
