Grumble. Trying to send e-mail to a hotmail user

All evening long I've been fighting with trying to get mail sent from slimy.com (or leonardfamilytutoring.com) to a hotmail address and failing. It keeps sending bounce messages like this:
This is the mail system at host phantom.slimy.com ( Read more... )

Maybe rephrase the content? Don't recall the system, but a while back I had problems sending email to someone about how a lawyer wanted to contact them about a willed bequest. I finally ended up paraphrasing massively to get it through the spam filters.

Does nothing at the postmaster link help out? They have information on their various policies, including a link to contact someone for more help.

SPF and Sender ID are good first steps. Also possibly useful are DomainKeys though they are more annoying to set up.

It could also be that hotmail is being too restrictive on its reputation requirements. It is probably assuming that most of its inbound mail comes from large commercial sites, so smaller vanity sites will necessarily fall through the cracks until enough reputation is built up. Unfortunately, it's totally up to hotmail to decide what your reputation is...

can you send it from gmail on behalf of the slimy.com account? It is a workaround, but it might get the job done.
