CAMELOT!!! diana_abel October 31 2011, 21:58:01 UTC
It was most unsettling, this peculiar and...noisy shop. As she opened her eyes, her first thought was that, surely, it was some scheme on the part of Margawse, to attain the sword. Fearfully, her eyes flicked back and forth, trying to locate the witch, but there were so many people, all of them needlessly shouting, that she couldn't make heads or tails of the situation.

She would have to call upon the Crusaders.

Swirling her hands in the air, she whispered the words to a magical spell. At once, a geyser of water shot up into the air, just in front of her. It formed an orb. "Find me the heroes of Camelot," she told the orb. Instantly, the orb shattered like broken glass. Each shard turned into a smaller ball of water and they scattered in all directions, flitting around the air like fireflies.

And now, she turned her attention to the strangers in her midst. Any one of them could be a servant of Margawse. She might have to eliminate them. But that would hinge upon the words of her king.

"I see. Then she's surely a force to be reckoned with. We'll have to be on our guard," Camilla said, somehow managing to sound sincere when she could barely contain her amusement. It was all so far-fetched and overdone. It sounded like something out of a high fantasy role play.

"In the meantime...is there anything I can do to help you?"

"I must await my king," she declared, getting even more overdone and, frankly, over the top, although to her own mind, this was just the way of things. "It is his duty and curse to defend against Margawse's wicked ways. He and his Knights of the Round Table have been summoned. If it's a battle Margawse seeks, then so be it."

May God have mercy on her soul.

"I could help you search for him?" she offers, both to sound helpful and for an excuse to get away. As entertaining as she is, who only knows what other characters are wandering the shop now, to be taken advantage of. "Can you describe him to me?"

She gave this strange woman a look, as if she were completely insane. "He wears the crown," she said. It was absolutely the most obvious thing in the world. "And he will come to me. I have summoned him. Arthur would never think to ignore my call."

"Of course. How foolish of me." She tried not to let her voice become too deadpan. "If that's the case then, perhaps I should go. I would not want to be in his majesty's way when he arrives. You two might need privacy to speak and figure out what you are to do next."

King Arthur practically bounded through the shop, heading for the door with Lancelot in tow, when he spotted her.

The Lady of the Lake.

He drew Excalibur, but held it unthreateningly pointed at the ground.

"M'Lady! What's brought you to this foul place?"

An eyebrow hiked up. "What's brought us to this foul place," she said. Still, she was glad to see him. And even more so, to see Lancelot, who she offered a wry, wane smile.

"I have no doubt that this is a machination on the part of Margawse, to obtain the sword," she said, gesturing to Excalibur. "We must be prepared to face her and her demons."

A pause.

"And where is the Queen?"

"Rest assured, we are not afraid to slay any demons that may seek the sword," Lancelot uttered, bowing his head in respect to the fair lady.

He turned from the others, scanning the crowed. The queen--his beloved, Arthur's beloved--was she here at all? He would not let her out of his sight should he lay eyes on her. "Let us pray that she has not too found herself in this hell."

"I'm prepared to slay her and any demons she cares to summon to do her bidding," Arthur said confidently.

He frowned slightly when the Lady of the Lake asked after the Queen.

"My Queen, I should hope, is somewhere far away from here and safe," he said, in agreement with Lancelot's comment.

"I wonder," she mused, looking around the room at all the lost, confused souls. "There must be a purpose to all of this. Margawse cannot simply have brought us here for the sheer chaos of it."

Oh no. There was something far more devious at play here.

She turned her eyes down on her two knights. "Are we all of Camelot?"

"Mine Uncle, King Arthur!"

An experienced, but young in comparison to some of the Round Table, knight joined them with a bow at his waist: a scar across his neck from his bout against the Green Knight, and the crest on the shield he had found signaled him as Sir Gawain, sister's son unto King Arthur. He wore a black cape and a sheathed sword with his shield, but the rest of his clothes were -- foreign, to him.

"I am glad of..." But he trailed off, once he noticed the Lady of the Lake there. He grew white as though in a swoon. "Truly, is this she, the Lady of the Lake?" said Gawain. "I saw her slain by Sir Balyn's own hand, God rest his soul, to lay a hand against a lady!"

"Gawain!" Arthur exclaimed, then looked upon the Lady of the Lake again, a little aghast. "Slain? We shall not allow it."

He glanced around. "We must uncover the Margawse plot and make our way back to Camelot."

She felt a tug from across...well, who knew how far? But she felt it as though someone were standing behind her, taking her elbow. A brief moment of panic surged through her, thinking it belonged to an enemy, but through the ether, she heard someone whispering.

Emrys.

A smile curled her lips. The forces of good were strong in this place, whatever it was. Excalibur would be safe.

"Hurry this way, Emrys," she whispered, sending her words to the water. "Hurry."

She looked up to the knights assembled. "Merlin is here somewhere. We must find him, quickly. His power and mine will protect us and flush out the vile witch."

((OOC: Merge up with Merlin?))

Gawain regained himself, and steadfastly decided as ever to keep by Arthur's and Lancelot's sides, those he loved the most. It surprised him not to learn that Morgawse's tricky might be behind this new land, but he suspected this Lady to be of the same trickery -- however, he held his tongue for now, to see what would come of it.

"Ah, Merlin! He has returned from his long adventures, then? I am glad of it," said Gawain. "My lord Arthur, beloved Sir Lancelot, let us arm ourselves. We know not of what dangers may await us."

[ooc: just move down to merlin's thread, then?]

Even with the alcohol still fresh in his system, Merlin has spent the past half hour since all the new arrivals turned up, trying to help. He'd offered over information, directions, even tried to help a dragon escape. But amongst all that, there's one thing that sticks out the most. One feeling that seems to be tugging at the back of his mind. And it's only when he finally gets a few moments to himself that he actually focuses on it. Focuses just long enough to catch sight of a certain orb that seems to be tailing him.

He spends a few minutes staring at it, his fingers only inches away from its surface. When his curiosity finally gets the better of him though, when he brushes his fingers across its borders, he finally knows. He needs to follow this back to its source, and a few, softly muttered words are enough to have the ball start to guide him back in the right direction.

ooc; Another heads up to all Arthurian-folks. Expect mergers of canons to follow from here on out. :3
