CAMELOT!!! diana_abel October 31 2011, 21:58:01 UTC
It was most unsettling, this peculiar and...noisy shop. As she opened her eyes, her first thought was that, surely, it was some scheme on the part of Margawse, to attain the sword. Fearfully, her eyes flicked back and forth, trying to locate the witch, but there were so many people, all of them needlessly shouting, that she couldn't make heads or tails of the situation.

She would have to call upon the Crusaders.

Swirling her hands in the air, she whispered the words to a magical spell. At once, a geyser of water shot up into the air, just in front of her. It formed an orb. "Find me the heroes of Camelot," she told the orb. Instantly, the orb shattered like broken glass. Each shard turned into a smaller ball of water and they scattered in all directions, flitting around the air like fireflies.

And now, she turned her attention to the strangers in her midst. Any one of them could be a servant of Margawse. She might have to eliminate them. But that would hinge upon the words of her king.

The genie's keen eyes watched as this woman summoned magic to serve her. Good. Perhaps she knew what was going on. Or perhaps she had caused it. No matter. The genie would get to the bottom of this.

"You have magic too," she announced to the woman. "Were you the one who caused all this, or are you a victim of someone's schemes as I am?"

What was that? Some kind of spirit from out of the East? A sparkling eyebrow lofted slightly. "I most certainly did not cause this chaos. I rather assumed that it was the work an evil sorceress called Margawse. She's forever scheming to overthrow my liege."

Curiously, although a bit defensively, she folded her arms across the chest. "And who is your king?"

"Never heard of her. Seems unlikely she would draw myself or others here into her schemes, unless they all serve your liege."

At the question, she bristled slightly. "I have none. I am a free genie, thank you very much." Genies were mysterious in origin. No one was quite sure how they came into being, but said they were made of smokeless flame. Nor did anyone know why some were bound to objects while others were not. But this genie had no master and served no king. She only helped those whom she wished.

Unbound magic. That could only lead to chaos. Margawse followed no king, after all. She served only herself. "Hmph," she sniffed.

Still, this creature of chaos did have a point. It did seem unlikely that Margawse would cause this sort of commotion. It wasn't subtle, it wasn't smooth and sleek. No, this was loud. Obnoxious. Seemingly random.

"My king will know what to do," she decided.

The genie crossed her arms too, not pleased with that little sound the other magic-wielder made.

"If you say so. I shall do my our search into the cause of this." Which basically meant going around and questioning people.

Well this was certainly interesting, to say the least. Once people had started waking up it hadn't taken much for Camilla to realize they were mentally or in some cases literally turning into whatever their costumes had been. Her conversation with Cordelia had foreshadowed as much quite nicely.

Being that she wasn't really wearing a costume, however, the true vampire stood immune.

This could be as much a recipe for trouble for her as it could be for some fun. Particularly considering, she thought as she watched the woman using her water magic from a short distance away, that some of them had evidently been granted a certain amount of power they'd never held before.

Still she walked towards the one in the glittering gown, curious.

She turned to regard the strange woman in even stranger garb. Not Margawse, but perhaps one of her demons? They weren't exactly known for their modesty. Uncertainly, she collected another orb of water between her hands, preparing herself for whatever new surprises lay in store.

"Who goes there?" she demanded.

Camilla let her eyes widen as she smiled in what was meant to be a disarming manner, careful not to let her lips part and fangs show. She even raised her hand a little as if in gesture of surrender, to show she had no weapon.

Of course, that didn't mean she actually needed one.

"You may call me Camilla," she said. "And yourself? I noticed that spell you did just now. Very impressive."

"You may call me Viviane," she replied, "if you must call me by some mortal name."

She was the Lady of the Lake, a glorious goddess. She was ageless. She was formless. And right now, she was very, very annoyed.

"Where is your mistress?" she demanded. "I know you're in league with Margawse. She will not succeed, whatever he plan is!"

"My mistress?" she repeated, eyebrows rising, bemused for all sorts of reasons really. She didn't know enough of her mythology to get the exact reference, but the use of the phrase 'mortal name' certainly was telling. "I do not know what you mean. The only one I serve is myself."

That much was very true.

She narrowed her eyes at the demon-woman. "You serve only yourself? Who is your king?" There was no doubt in her mind that no demon-woman would serve the once and future king, but she thought, perhaps, it might be amusing to hear her out.

Still, she kept that orb of water ready. Just in case...

Well, that was a more troubling question. If only because it was obvious the answer of 'I have no king' would probably be met with either disbelief or flat-out hostility, whatever place or time this woman now thought that she was from. Though she was careful not to give away anything on her face, Camilla considered it.

Guessing wrong would probably not go well, either. So she decided on a whim to give a name that would almost certainly be unfamiliar and foreign.

Luckily personal experience provided her with one.

"I am a subject under the blessing and protection of King Odin, of Asgard. Whose realm lies very far from here."

That was met with neither disbelief nor flat-out hostility. Rather, it was met with a funny look. "I haven't heard of this Asgard," she said, though there was something familiar about it. Well, about the name of Odin, at any rate. "Is this your king's realm? If so, I demand that he be brought before me at once."

Someone had to answer for this.

"No, no. I am a visitor to this place," she was quick to inform her. "Like you. And I have never heard of this...what did you say that name was, again? I didn't even quite catch it."

"Margawse, the witch," she said tightly, the disgust quite evident in her voice. "A menace to all who walk on the earth. If you are a captive here, there can be no doubt that she brought you for some reason or another. You must not trust her. She will use you to her advantage."

Still, Margawse's intentions felt clouded. Whatever her game was, it was certainly unique. And that frightened her. Because she wasn't used to new things.
