Jim & Chapel, Sirius and... ???? chairismine September 29 2011, 23:22:28 UTC
A screech of metal makes him (everyone) look up. The building above them is moving, though it's hard to see from right underneath it. Bricks being to drop out of the sky and Jim's already grabbed Christine's hand and started running for cover (and yelling for everyone around to do the same) because whatever's happening it isn't going to be good.

Larger chunks of debris begin to fall and fuck- they aren't far enough away yet. A look up over his shoulder, and he can't help swearing some more. Goddamnit that's a chunk of wall heading right for them.

He throws himself at Christine, pushing her out of the way; yelling at her to run one more time. Then everything hurts and (oh god) so much for a nice afternoon out.

Christine was having a nice day out with Jim, which should have been her first sign that something would have to go horribly wrong soon. When the tower started shaking, her first thought was earthquake, but then there wasn't time to think anymore when Jim grabbed her hand and pulled her away. She ran as fast as her feet could carry her, bricks exploding on the sidewalk from the height from which they dropped. She threw up her free arm to cover her head, her heart pounding painfully against her rib cage from the adrenalin and fear ( ... )

Sirius just happened to be in the area at the time as well -- when debris started falling from the tower, he knew his help would be needed. He didn't even think twice before darting in, looking for anyone who was injured.

Unfortunately, he found someone. Two someones, even. "Christine?! What happened? Who --" And then, he saw who was crushed under the chunk of wall. Jim.

He shouted a Wingardium Leviosa, levitating the debris off Jim's body, landing it nearby (but out of anyone's way). Then he dropped to Jim's side.

"Jim?" he whispered, hoping his friend was alive.

Oh holy fucking fuck. Jim all but bit through his lip as he tried to keep from shouting loud enough that the whole city could hear. He coudln't move to see how bad it was, and he didn't think he could move at all if it came to it-

Then Christine was back again, kneeling beside him and "Fuck, Chapel- get the hell out of here." She had to keep out of harm's way until it was safe. No point the nurse getting hurt. But she was actually trying to lift the wall off of him because she was-

For a moment he thought she'd done it. Then he decided that no, that wasn't possible and he'd actually gone and died. The pressure lifted and Bones was going to murder him for being an big damn hero and getting himself killed. But then the blood rushed back through the previously crushed limbs and Jim did bite through his lip.

Christine ignored Jim's command, if it could really be called that, since he technically wasn't her Captain at the moment, and was already ripping the bottom of her shirt off with a handy piece of broken glass. It wasn't ideal, but he was bleeding like crazy and needed a tourniquet.

"Shh, just hold on," she said, trying to stay calm even though tears were blurring her vision. A few blinks cleared it, sending the tears down her cheeks, and she focused on wrapping the fabric around one of his injuries as delicately as she could.

"Oh, hell, I need, God..." She spoke to Sirius while still focusing on Jim. "He's losing too much blood. And I don't have my fucking med kit! He needs to go to the hospital now, or-- Sirius!" Looking up at the wizard with desperation in her eyes, she asked, "Can your magic be used to heal him? Or even just slow the bleeding?" Christine wasn't stupid. With the amount of damage to the surrounding area plus how many others had to be injured, Jim would never make it to an operating table before he died.

"I'll see what I can do for him, but healing isn't my area of expertise," Sirius told her, frustrated. "But it is Lily's."

He got out his network device (which looked a bit like a diary), and sent Lily a quick message with his location --Jim's injured, please help. Then he went back to Jim, murmuring what few spells he knew to ease the pain and bleeding.

She'd been startled by the explosion, but hadn't thought much of it - until her phone beeped with a message from Sirius. She checked it, and her eyes widened. Running to the door, she flipped the sign from 'open' to 'closed,' then bolted to the tower.

Pausing at the edge of the rubble, she spotted Sirius and picked her way over, and her heart leapt into her throat as she pulled out her wand. "Sirius, I thought you said Jim was injured; why is Oliver - "

He clenched his palms into fists so tight his knuckles showed white. God, he couldn't die. Not here. Not now.

Keeping breathing, that was what they always said. Keep getting oxygen to the brain so that whatever happened to the rest of you, your brain was all right. Keep thinking stupid thoughts about brain damage so you don't think about what that wall did to your legs. Focus on the pain because pain means your spine isn't broken and-

"Ahhh jesus christ."

He'd feel bad for swearing at his top nurse. Later

If Jim thought Christine would care about him swearing at the situation when he was lying in a broken, bloody heap, then he didn't know her very well. She was losing her patience though, as time was working against them, and quickly said to Lily, "Can you heal him?" This was nearly followed by He's dying, but she couldn't say that in front of Jim. Instead she reached out and touched his cheek, hoping that the pain would be gone soon.

"Sirius helped a bit, but it wasn't enough."

Sirius shook his head. "It's Jim, Lily. A younger one, who happens to look exactly like Oliver. Thought the situation was a bit too urgent to go into detail about that."

He unclenched one of Jim's hands, slipping his own into it. "You'll be all right, Jim, we've got you. Focus on me."

Lily decided that she was going to deal with the fact that apparently this bloke just randomly had Oliver Wood's face later and knelt, pulling her wand out. She smiled, said to the young man,

"That's right, just focus on Sirius. I'm going to do some analgesic charms now; you may feel something like cold water under your skin." And without wasting another breath, she murmured the incantation and did a few complicated wiggly movements with her wand.

Chapel and Sirius were talking over him to someone else. It was important that he pay attention and not block that out like he was trying to block out the pain. For some reason. Maybe it wasn't important.

Someone took his hand- Sirius. He squezzed hard, thankful for something to focus on outside himself.

"Rather focus on your friend, mis-" The sudden cold shocked him, and he'd have tried to flinch in pain except that moving hurt even more and he just howled through clenched teeth instead.

The effect Lily's magic was having on Jim made Christine bite the inside of her cheek to keep from outwardly reacting. As fascinating as magic was to her, when it came to medicine, she saw it as a last resort, and was only allowing this because there was no other choice. Reaching out, she stroked Jim's matted hair and said, "Almost done, almost done. You're doing so well. Just keep hanging on."

Sirius rolled his eyes at Jim's comment, but the man was in pain, so he could forgive him. He kept his grip firm, though, using his other hand to steady him. "Lily knows what she's doing, you'll be fine." He was reassuring both Jim and Christine...as well as himself.

"That's the worst of it," Lily soothed, keeping her voice gentle, the way she had when Harry was colicky and crying all night. "There, now, the pain should be receding I'm going to splint your legs now, all right? Just hold still."

Moving quickly, she moved down to his legs and began another incantation and tricky wandwork, eyes focused on him.
