Mads was in a comparatively good mood today, considering how much he had had to drink the night before. He really only remembered about half the conversation. And so he couldn't even remember the Swede's warning, that, and he didn't remember being blunt enough to embarrass the Finn. He did remember asking really personal questions, but he couldn't really remember the Finn's responses. Not that it was a big deal or anything really. Tino always took his shit patiently.
"On a high, on a high, on a high holiday, on the very best day of the year, little Matty Grove to the church did go the Holy Word to hear." He mutteringly sang to himself, it had been in his head all day. He was approaching metal shop by the time he'd reached the last verse. "Little Matty lay dead on the floor. And then Lord Arlen he took his wife, he sat her on his knee. Saying who do you like the best of us, Mattie Groves or me. And then spoke up his own dear wife never heard to speak so free. I'd rather kiss one dead Mattie's lips than you and your finery. Lord Arlen

"What asshole?" Tino asked. He hadn't known of Berwald's intention to throw down with the Dane. "Did someone jump you!? Did you get mugged!?" He shrieked in a panic. "We should call campus security! Voi Luoja! Bear your whole eye is going to swell up, it looks like it's going to be black and blue." Tino winced, having looked like he was going to touch the injury, but quickly pulling back. "Do you have a spare pair of glasses? Or were those contacts it?" He asked, trying to think of a way to be of help.
"These contacts are it. Screw it." Berwald sighed just opting to be blind until he could get to the mall and get new glasses in "about an hour" his eyes were too toasted for contacts and he couldn't get them in anyway. Why he even kept a pair around was pointless, they just sat in the medicine cabinet.
"Not I wasn't mugged Buttercup. Not on this island it's too secure. No. I beat the shit out of the Dane. I've got detention after school." Berwald said melting against the back of the bench disgusted.
"Do you think if I call in my prescription to the vision center in the mall you can pick up them for me after supper. I'm rather useless until then. I can see the statue all the way across the quad. I can't see you a foot in front of me. I'm really far-sighted." Berwald said starting to FEEL his eye swelling now that the adrenaline was wearing off.
"Voi Louja! Why did Mathias get into a fight with you? I mean, I know you two don't get along, but he seemed fine last night. I mean... well... he was his usual self... but he didn't show any signs that he was going to attack you. I'm sorry." He apologized, gingerly trying to get Berwald up. "Come on I'll walk you home or wherever you want to go. And yeah, if you call in the prescription and tell them that it'll be me I'll go get them."
He had no idea that it was actually Berwald who initiated the fight. He didn't see Berwald as an aggressor, he'd only ever seen the sweet, gentle side of the man. Yes, he often was rigid and grumpy when Tino accidentally brought Mathias up in conversation.
"I didn't give him a chance to attack me Buttercup." Berwald said draping an arm over Tino's shoulders to let him guide him and keep him from bumping into anything on the way back to the dorm.
"I warned him on numerous occasions that my fist would break his face if he kept up his obnoxious shit. I lived up to my promise. He had you so embarrassed last night you could have been confused for a tomato and I couldn't even kiss you without you getting redder. I warned him not to do that to you." Berwald said getting angry all over again.
"BEAR!" He snapped. "Oh my god that's not a good reason to hit someone! OH my god if I had thought it would make you wanna hit him in the head I wouldn't have let it bug me. I... I was just kind of embarrassed, I'm sorry. You can't be just punching him in the head though! Then YOU'RE the bad guy!" he moaned, face palming. "At least if it's Mathias that goes after you it's self defense, and he's kindda a dick and is USED to detention! He's CONSTANTLY there. But you're better than that!" He groaned. He still had no idea that Berwald had tried to kill Mathias by squeezing the ever living shit out of his windpipe. If he didn't feel like Berwald's behavior was his own fault because of how embarrassed he'd been then he would probably be livid!
Berwald at least had he decency to FLINCH at the chastisement. "It certainly felt good. This has been years in the making Askling. His making you upset was just the proverbial straw that broke this camel's back. I'll make you a promise not to throw the first punch again. Will that appease?" Berwald asked as they reached their dorm and he handed Tino his phone.
"Will you dial the number? I can't read the screen. It's saved in my contacts as EYE DOCTOR" Berwald said hoping Tino would forgive him.
"I suppose it will. I don't care if you beat him up, because quite frankly I do believe he needs to be every once in a while, but I'd really rather you not be the one to start it. Because then you look like the dick instead of Mads who IS the dick." He reasoned, getting the door open and getting Berwald to sit down on the end of the bed so he could find EYE DOCTOR in the contacts menu.
"I don't feel bad that you have detention." He affirmed. "You bought it this time young man. But I'll still kiss them better after you've paid your debt to society." He added, not caring that he sounded like an old bitty while calling him 'young man' besides, he'd still kiss the wounds he'd sustained better later. He finally found the eye doctor, selected the number and pressed the phone into the blind giant's hand so he could put it to his ear. "It's ringing."
Berwald had them make his prescription the same as last time with the same frames and they'd be ready by the end of the school day and Tino could just pick them up. They would charge Berwald's credit card over the phone. That sorted Berwald turned back to Tino and smiled and then winced because his lip hurt and his face was really swelling.
"So long as I get kisses again, my debt to society will be worth it. Can I beg the warden for some Tylenol? I could take birth control pills and not know the difference right now. I really am hopeless without my specs." Berwald said trying to be humorous even if he felt helpless when he was blinded.
Tino actually chuckled. "If there is birth control somewhere in this dorm then we are going to have a problem." he chortled, getting up to comply with the needs of the vision impaired Jotunn. "Are you going back to class or are you going to skip the rest of them until Detention? If not I'll walk you to your next class, besides, right about now is my lunch time, so I'm not expected anywhere." He added, looking at his junky old watch.
"Lunch is Good. I'm actually hungry. But I think I'll skip until detention. I can't see to be any good in class once I'm there anyway. It's a valid excuse. If not a great one." Berwald said grinning in the direction he hoped Tino was standing and then flinching again.
"Damn my lip hurts, did he bust it open? And I can tell my eye is probably almost swollen shut at this point. How ugly did he make me Buttercup?" Berwald asked rubbing th lump under his right eye.
"Yeah, he busted your lip up good, and your left eye seems fine, but your right one is probably going to swell shut. Lemme get you an ice bag." He said, looking over the scrapes and dings, probably so close to the giants face that he'd become no more than a blur of white, blond and purple before finally distancing himself by going into the kitchen to fill a zip lock back with ice cubes and wrap a dish towel around it. "Here Bear, hold this on your eye, hopefully it'll bring the swelling down before you can't see out of it at all."
"I bet if I kissed it it would hurt like hell, but if you wanna be masochistic." He smiled and gave Berwald a peck on the lips, trying very carefully to avoid kissing directly over the split open part. "Now lay down with that on your eye and stop squirming. You need to save your energy for detention and keeping your hands off Mads when you get there."
"I promised you never the first punch again. I'll keep my promise." Berwald assured shuffling over to the bed to lay down and prop the ice pack on his face.
"Ti I'll be fine here, you don't have to baby sit your blind fool. Just walk me to Detention before you go grab my eye and I'll be good. I really appreciate the seeing-eye-cutie services." Berwald said from being the ice pack and settling down with Hana on the bed.

He was going to need some aspirin soon.

"I bet if you kiss it however it'll make it better." Berwald added, his left eye glinting with his inner playfulness only Tino ever was blessed with.
