Christmas went well. I think my favorite present right now is this book/kit that my mom got me called "Mandalas for Meditation," and it's kind of like a coloring book for adults (I know, go ahead and laugh), it comes with 80 pages of just kind of random designs that you can color (most of them are pretty intricate but some are simpler) and colored ( Read more... )

One major physiological thing about middle school is the hormones...it tends to create the "life or death" feelings of being selected for something, having someone reject you, etc. To middle schoolers...everything that is happening to them is THE most important thing ever. Failing a test? Devastating. Going to Disney? Clearly, the best thing to ever happen in their life. Their boyfriend moving? Heart wrenching. It's just this constant whirlwind of drama. It's really intriguing to be in the middle of it as an adult now...I have to try really hard to remember that when they forget a 10 point assignment and are crying about how they're going to fail, in their mind...they really do thing 10 points will fail them and how will they ever live with an F in sixth grade? I have one girl who was flipping out on me that she was getting a B+ and I had to have a conversation with her about how grades matter, yes, but it's freaking 6th grade and honey, I was a perfectionist but I honestly cannot tell you what grade I got my first nine weeks of 6th ( ... )

Aye...I remember that. We all had one. Mine was my Marius, as you'll well remember.;) I didn't meet him until high school, but my God, that was sick, how much I liked him. Or I thought I did. (It took me quite a while to realize I liked him because I liked his girlfriend. Which I did. And admittedly, I still kinda do ( ... )
