I claim to be an eye makeup lover but I seem to have more lip products than eye products. I guess it's because it's easier to buy lip products as there are a lot of different brands and different types coming out throughout the year. This is another new product that I learned about recently and I got super curious I had to go out and buy it. You've seen this in my
Week 34 haul and this is the L'Oreal Shine Caresse in Princess.
This is my very first product from L'Oreal. If you ask me what took me so long to try this brand, I don't have an answer for you. Now that I've broken my L'Oreal virginity though, I want to try more (I'm looking at you Lumi Foundation). Anyway, Shine Caresse is described as a "dazzling shine fresh moisture light-weight lip color". It's another kind of lip lacquer, one of those lip glosses that lasts longer and leaves a stain. This is supposed to be a dupe of the YSL Glossy Stains but since I've never tried that, so I cannot compare the two. I can only compare it to the Rimmel Apocalips which is another kind of lip lacquer.
The shade that I got is Princess which is a pretty orange-red color (which I find weird because when I think of Princesses I think pink). I don't think I have a lot of this color in my stash so it was an easy choice. I also read from reviews that the more pigmented/bold colors are the best ones to try from the line. How does it compare with the Rimmel one? The L'Oreal offering is way more glossy and leaves a deeper stain. The gloss is not sticky and it also feels lighter on the lips. For that reason though, the longevity isn't all there. It disappears at around the 2 hour mark. The applicator is also a bit too big for my lips and makes application a bit hard. Once you get the hang of it though, it shouldn't be a problem. You also have to make sure to preps your lips before application as it is a bit drying. It also has a scent that disappears a while after application.
Overall, I like the actual product and the packaging which feels luxe for a drugstore brand. I can't use it daily though because my lips are naturally dry and it adds more to that. This product is available locally though. So if you haven't tried lip lacquers, this is a good drugstore alternative for you.
