Have you thought about taking the dog training and showing it? We used to do that with our dogs when they were younger, and it's really good for socialising both the dog and for yourself to meet new people. Besides, if the breeding's that good it would be a shame not to show it really.

It's something we're thinking about. It'd certainly be a good idea in terms of staying on friendly terms with the clique, and the breeder. And as you say, the social aspect of it for the dog is great too.

On the other hand, we're quite prepared to be getting the runt of the litter in terms of breed standards (although the pedigrees we've been looking at are excellent); since we want a pet first and foremost we're not too worried about whether there's exactly the right amount of white at the tip of his tail, or whether his shoulders are exactly 27.5". So in that regard we might well just stick to the local Berners owners' club social events, of which there are many apparently!

I think we'll know as we get to know him whether the "scene" will be his cup of tea :)

If it costs you the same money either way, then I'd go for the higher standards so at least you have the option.

Then again Misty's kind of a runt, and she's got a lovely character - slightly annoying, but character all the same. :)

Plus, Charlene might have something to say on the matter too! ;o)

dude, mountain dog for the win. About time you got as proper animal, rather than your usual small, veggy food style animals :-)
