This is the third time I've tried to post since the weekend...I keep getting interrupted! Anyway, it's been a while, so I'd best update whilst the house is empty and I've got the opportunity!

I started a in new role at Aston last week, in the Life and Health Sciences school office. Last week it was part-time, mornings only (which I have to say I rather liked, getting home by 2pm is something I could get used to!), but when I finally make it in this week (had migraines yesterday and today) I think it'll be full-time. It's not a particularly interesting place to be, the office is one of those uncomfortably quiet ones and the people have nothing to say for themselves. The work isn't thrilling either, I spent last week filing, shredding, and filling in student transfer forms by hand. But it's money, and a reasonably certain 8-week placement, so it'll do for now.

I'm still waiting on my results from my last OU course, which finished in early May, and I'm starting to feel anxious about it. It's not that I think I've done badly, I got consistantly high marks in the three assignments, I just hate it when things drag on. My current course continues to be shit, but my marks are ok so far so I'm just sitting it out. I'm already registered for a nice maths-y course to start at the end of September (i.e. when my current course ends), and I have some preliminary stuff to read through, so I'm focussing on that to stop myself going mad. I should really do a vaguely music-y course soon though, or I'll find myself with a degree that has nothing to do with what I intend to do at all!

Andrew and I reached our 5th Anniversary last Friday, and celebrated by sharing a kebab and watching DVDs. Never let it be said that we don't know how to mark a special occasion! We'll be going without a fair bit in the next couple of months, as we save for our old-coupliest purchase to date - a Bernese Mountain Dog.

We're in touch with a couple of breeders, and we're hoping to bring a puppy home around the end of September (cunningly close to my birthday ;P) after our house holiday to Centerparcs. We've had to work quite hard at impressing the breeders - Berners are still quite rare in this country, and their owners/breeders are rather cliquey and, quite rightly, fussy as to where their pups end up - but we're hopeful that it will all work out. That particular breed just seems perfect to us - they're big dogs, but not aggressive and excellent with other animals, and they don't need too much exercise. Besides, with Andrew's Swiss heritage, how could we choose anything else?! It's all still rather unconfirmed as yet; one breeder has told us she's expecting a litter of 3 from her bitch Envy (who's stunning to look at and so friendly - she wouldn't leave us alone when we visited on Saturday!) in about 4 weeks, and she's having another 2 bitches scanned this week. The other breeder we've been talking to was one of the first to bring the breed to the UK in the early 70s, and is evidently very well respected, so we plan to visit her even though she's not got any litters on the way at the moment, just in case things don't work out with the first. It's all very exciting, and frustrating at the same time - I'm not good at delayed gratification! There's lots to sort out, though, so we've plenty to do to fill the gap before he arrives. I'll try not to go on about it too much, but expect lots of pictures once he's born!

That's plenty of my waffle for now - I'm off to start dinner :)
