I'm skimming some episode reactions on my flist and it seems that a lot of people liked the episode and didn't mind Sam/Ruby. And that's fine by me. I didn't like it but as I said, I don't have to like everything on the show and I still can love it. But it's the Kripke and balls thing that makes me so angry. It's HIS show. He's the creator and not the fans. This is kinda where fan entitlement comes from too, you know? If he always gives fans what they want (or writes the show in a way not to make them mad), they're gonna take it for granted. It just really grosses me out. :(
Ahaha! Me too! I was SQUEALING! :D Audrey, Audrey, Audrey!!
Like, I didn't mind the Sam/Ruby. I just. I WISH THERE WASN'T SO MUCH FAN ENTITLEMENT ON THE SHOW. I would LOVE to see the show Kripke actually wanted to create, whether I LIKED every aspect or not, ya know?
HEEE. And first I thought it was Aubrey, so I wasn't as spazzy, but then i realized it and went like "ZOMG!!!"
Actually, I've been wondering this for a while how SPN would have played out if it hadn't been influenced by so many outsiders factors like the CW, money or the fans. I sometimes would love to know how Kripke's masterplan ad original myth arc as before it was fucked up several times. So yeah, I'm with you there!
LOL. I didn't even consider that he did not say Audrey but something else. I went directly to the spazz. ;)
And there was so much TIME and WORK devoted to trying to make that scene palatable. The whole thing was unnecessary for me. There's 101 ways to demonstrate the instability of a character's psyche. WHY RESORT TO THE CHEAP AND EASY WAY?
Exactly. I think showing Sam as a drunk, aggressive, headless chicken pretty much already summed up how unstable and dysfunctional he was without Dean. Or the fact that he tried to make a deal so badly. I think the message was pretty clear.
Why go there and why take the "easy way out" of hey, she's dead anyway, it's totally okay for them to have sex?

The writing was so poor in this episode. It didn't make any sense to me and all it was, was a gratuitous NC-17 rated scene. WHY?

So I share your, 'WHY?" so much :\

I agree with the sex scene. It didn't contribute to the plot at all and it felt really gratuitous to me. What's it supposed to tell me?
Good point about Dean's reaction. I hadn't even thought about that. :(
