in the second picture are the things on top of the ice tray the little colored plastic reusable ice cube thingies?

Yep. There used pretty-much for when I want to ice a drink that I don't want to water down, like a white russian. It takes more of them to keep something cool, but it's worth it.

True... a active fire in your freezer would be very eventful, like flambeeing (sp?) those bananas, but I have to admit, there's no fee to park in MY freezer. I count that as at LEAST mildly eventful.
