Through a glass, darkly

Those are very good--strong compositions and interesting subjects. There is indeed a market for such work (see Strobist), but also a lot of competition.

Ooh, I *like* the pegasus weathervane! Nice. I am tempted to icon it, but I can't think what text to put on it (or if it would be fine by itself, which it might be). And the last one with the lamps just makes me all happy and warm and fuzzy inside for some reason.

Is that camera really two years old? Wow.

it's just a little bit of the Otherwhere peeking in bellatrys June 21 2007, 19:12:08 UTC
the totally-unexpectedness of a traditional New England house having neither a colonial eagle nor a running horse for a gable decoration, but instead a winged horse! and the lamps look like captive moons, there's kind of a visual pun going on with the leaves over the big round orange light, only it's not the rising moon after all...just a little touch of Mystery amidst the mundane, is all. And please, please do feel free to make icons of them - part of the fun of putting things out here is seeing what other people can do with them!

Nice photos, especially the last one. Have you thought of submitting to Shutterstock.com?

Dear Bellatrys (if that is even your real name),

I read you blog everyday, checking it often and regularly for new posts.

And I read your every post, trawling through the pages and pages of fascinating and interesting writings.

But where is all Bren/Banichi slash? I come here time and time again, look at your well composed pictures, your art, your political writings, but where are all salad tossing foreigner fanfics?

Until this problem is resolves, I shall...continue doing what I was doing anyway, but with a really sullen expression on my face.

Please just give us what you got, when you got it.

Yours Sincerely,

an anonymous internet person.

I have to say I haven't written 1) any Foreigner fanfic, 2) any slash, so I'm afraid you're out of luck on both counts. You'll have to content yourself with your imagination, unless/until you find some out there.

OMG. ROFLOL. S/he said what?

I'll be over here giggling my arse off at the, ah, original spam/hatemail you get, P@L!!

(And, yes, this icon is intentional. :D)

(Or maybe the anonymous comment is a cleverly-worded compliment, and I'm just too dense to read it correctly. In any case, I blame you for the Tano/Algini running through my head--even though I can't quite see Bren/Banichi. Bren/Jase on the other hand...)

Both the pegasus and the university lamps are lovely. I'd purchase a high-resolution of either of those.

I sent a paypal donation a couple of weeks ago; I don't know if it went through, because spam has been eating my email lately, but if you got something from a Mary Jones, then it did. If not, I'd like to resend it. For once in my life, I have a little extra cash, and I'd like to help with it.

Thank you! That will cover groceries for the next couple weeks, very much appreciated.

I'm thinking about doing a series called "Mysterious Manchester" with some of my local photos that are any good (some I may retake, now that I understand the camera better than 2 years ago) and set them up on DevianArt, since they have an apparently-respectable print service, and I don't think that any of them are quite good enough to be worth making giclees of, altho' I might do some digital paintings based off them that could be worth it, eventually. I'll let you know when I get that together, and post the link.
