What an interesting take on this-- a totally different use of Fornax and stars than the route I took.

Funny, I see that Fornacalia does have to do with baking bread. We must have somehow altered the meaning of the Latin on the way down, because Fornax is supposed to mean "furnace" but instead comes closer to "hearth." I'll admit, furnace and forge are not the same thing, but I'd assumed it was a fiercer type of furnace than what it actually appears to be.

Very nice entry!

I lost track of the site, but I also read a Pagan site on Fornacalia that backed up what Wikipedia said. It was fascinating how these connections just started clicking in my mind, so that I could write it up in this way. From what I read "Fornax" does mean "furnace" but leans more towards hearth (baking spelt in her honor) than forge -- tho both works when you're baking stars, I think.

Thanks!

Great job with this...I googled it and went blank. But this was food for thought. ;) No pun intended.

Thanks.
I put it in the search bar in My Yahoo, if it hadn't yielded anything useful I would have done Google next.
