fic: a book of myths, chapter 8

Sep 09, 2010 21:01

I just realised how depressing this fic is. I mean, given the canons it was hardly going to be kittens and rainbows, but still. IT IS DONE. \o/ Thanks to everyone for reading, and for putting up with the longer-than-expected gaps. It's been so interesting hearing how the story runs from the outside. Many thanks also, again, to my marvellous co- ( Read more... )

I hope you enjoy! You have to be one of the few people who know Silent Witness well enough to get everything, so I am super excited you've time to read.

Ahaha, so, I may have stopped reading because of RL things but as I am home today, will head back and pick up where I left off. Congrats, girls, for getting to the finish line - more once I've read everything x

LADIES. LADIES. MY GOODNESS.

I loved how everything came together into a plan that takes them forward. I loved the relationship between Ruth and Tariq. I absolutely loved - and felt awful about - the nod towards Harry, and what lies ahead for him. Jo and Lucas smoking together! Malcolm and Tariq getting on so well! Jo's anger at Zaf, because she couldn't possibly take in more despair! Tom Quinn never being able to come back!

This whole world, you've constructed it so thoroughly. The section with the people in the marketplace was horrible; Ruth running out to Tom was wry and sad; Harry sitting on the floor by Nikki's bed where she'd chosen to go with some semblance of dignity was poignant.

Ahhhh, so good. I love coming to the end of something and feeling that good, solid weight in my gut, knowing that it was well-told. Excellent, excellent job, girls. This was brilliant, and well worth the wait.

*blushes* Thank you my dear, I am SO PLEASED you enjoyed it. Oh god, so we agreed at the start that someone had to die, right, and then we got to the end and I was all I CANNOT POSSIBLY DECIDE and Soph was sharpening her axe with what I am sure was a gleeful grin and I was hiding, and now that scene is my favourite one ever. So I love that you loved it too.

I can't believe it's actually done! Now I will finally be able to concentrate on my ficathonfic, I hope. And catch up with reading other people's fic!

TOTALLY gleeful. There is nothing I like better than a nice death scene, or near-death scene, or oh-no-I've-just-realized-my-own-mortality scene, or generally anything morbid of that kind. If belantana wasn't restraining me a whole load of other people would likely have copped it too. Soph

Out of interest, who? (I am guessing Ruth but I can never tell with you!)

Well done! I think I'm going to have to reread it and figure out some of the plotty stuff - but it feels like Spooks all the way through, you use the crossover characters as well as the regulars and everything was so well done, and a lovely Spooks-ish bittersweet ending there.

:-)

Ha, it is probably the kind of thing that makes more sense in one reading than it does in disjointed chapters, because yes, there are a lot of things going on and I'm not surprised you're confused!

Thank you as always for your kind comments, they mean a lot. :D

Well, thank YOU for sending me that email with the scene that started it all off.

(The first scene she sent me, dear readers, was half of that one where Jo kisses Harry and doesn't smoke her cigarette. And then we were all how did they get there? Where are they going? And then we got a bit carried away)

I had such a lot of fun - really as a last fanfiction hurrah it was a pretty great one. And thanks for doing all the hard work, posting and so on whilst I have had my feet up over here...! Soph

Excuse me I would like to remind you that there was NO KISSING in that scene I sent you. I believe there were other things. But there was no kissing.

(And now look at it! *marvels*)

I'm glad you got a last hurrah, as it were, rather than most people who leave fandom by drifting away, feeling guilty and never coming back. I'll make sure to have a last hurrah sometime in the distant future when it happens to me!

Oh oops, the kissing was me? Well I was just pandering to your Harry/Jo thing, obviously ;)
