Meisa walked out of NYU's Department of Art History after talking to her advisor, glad to be done with the semester. There had been no finals to study for, not really, but she had spent the last week hunched over her laptop, huddled away in the corner of the fine arts library, furiously typing up her senior thesis. It was just a rough draft, but still, there was no excuse not to hand in a well-typed draft
( ... )
"Meeting? Why- who?" Meisa was confused. At first it didn't even register that it was Jun on the other end. "Jun?! What meeting?" Quickly rifling through her mental task list, she was pretty sure she didn't have any work until after Christmas. "Hats?"
"I'm on the corner of Washington Square North," she said, flustered, "Near the Silver Building. Where are you?"
He could hear the confusion in her voice but Jun was a man of action--he started off the direction of Washington Square. "I'm on my way to you," he said, answering her last question first. He picked up into a light jog. "And you've got a meeting with Aina and Aleix, the owners of Pur la Pau."
Damn it, where was--there she was. "Not that I don't love your hair, Boo, but I am buying you the brightest hat I can find. So that I can find you in a crowd." He clicked his phone shut and grabbed her wrist. And noticed her bag and coffee. "Tell me you're free," he said, struck by the thought that she might actually be BUSY here.
Underneath all the twinkling, the twins had a knowing look in their eyes. Meisa figured they were thinking about all the potential ads they could run with her and Jun as a pair. She beamed and forgetting she was dressed in a towel, lifted her arms in celebration. "Yatta!" The towel slipped a little, but she had secured it tightly enough. Throwing her arms around Jun, she cried in delight, "Thank you so much!"
The twins stopped talking briefly to glance at them then resumed their conversation with slight smiles. Having released Jun from the celebratory hug, Meisa didn't notice. "Thank you, Jun-pon," she said again gratefully before her tone switched to a more playful one, "The next time we eat out, it's my treat."
"Go ahead and change," said Aleix, "We'll take test shots next time-"
"-and we'll contact your agency to set up a contract," finished Aina. "The rest of the day is yours to do as you please."
Meisa nodded, making her way to her changing room. She looked at Jun in question before ducking in. "Are you free to hang out after
Mindful of her towel, Jun was careful as he hugged Meisa back. "It's all you, Boo," he murmured as she let go. "And it's your treat and I'm ordering a lot." He noticed the look but he was used to it--especially when he knew the twins were thinking about work and what they could do with him, and now Meisa.
He gave both twins a nod and went to change. "I--" But Meisa was already going to change. He WAS free. But he couldn't. He hadn't had breakfast and he didn't want to risk it. Breakfast was the one meal he couldn't miss; it had simply been too long since that last time he'd eaten something that would help his condition not just hold it steady. "I'd love to," he called. "But it'll have to be short. I have to get to the hospital." He'd pick up some more food and possibly something that he could carry the way he did rat brains. Maybe he'd try glandular tissues. "If that's all right?"
Meisa heard Jun call out, a little hesitation in his answer. Brows furrowing slightly, she worried a bit about what he needed to go to the hospital for before remembering that he worked there. Funny, she knew he worked there but not really much about what exactly he did there. Done changing, she slung her satchel across her body and stepped out to wait for Jun.
"If you're busy, it's alright," she said through the door, picking at the chipped nail polish on her thumb. "I don't want to keep you from work." It sounded important. "I was thinking of doing a little Christmas shopping anyways. I haven't done any of it yet." Researching and paper writing had taking precedence going into the holiday season, meaning that she had to catch up and start battling all the people who were starting to panic.
Ugh. Meisa made a face at the chipped polish. "Maybe not. I should just do my shopping online."

He turned, looking. "Hats are fashionable and I am buying you one." She had to be here. Or maybe not. "I'm on your campus, by the way."
