It was a bad idea. It was the worst he'd ever had. It was the stupidest whim he'd given in to, and Nino was still kicking himself for it. He was going to have to take double shifts again - probably for the next six months at least - and he didn't even have more than 50 cents of a raise to even pretend to be justifying this.

It didn't change the fact that Nino had a tiny tux kitten in his arms, tail swishing as he purred contently.

This was why Nino avoided animal shelters and pet stores like the plague. But the PetCo. had been on his way and they'd just happened to be having an adoption day, and the kitten was listed as unfriendly and apt to bite. Nino knew that nobody else would take him.

Nino let himself into the apartment, hoping against hope that Pearl would take the poor thing under her wing instead of hating him. "Satoshi?" he called hesitantly.

Ohno had fallen into a comfortable state on their couch, Pearl finished with her meal and curled in his lap as a small, purring heater. As such, he didn't hear Nino enter until his voice followed, pulling him from his light nap.

"Kazu? In here," he replied. Yawning, he stretched his arms out over his head and felt Pearl adjust accordingly on his lap. It took a moment, but soon Pearl was growling softly in the back of her throat.

What the hell?

Pearl wasn't happy. Nino could hear the soft growl cutting through the apartment. He winced and held the tiny kitten closer.

Nino toed out of his shoes and wiggled free of his jacket carefully before stepping into the living room. Ohno was stretched out on the couch with a very angry-looking Pearl in his lap. Nino winced again.

"Um..."

Ohno blinked. Pearl was obviously upset about something, but his mind hadn't quite worked out what it was that was upsetting her.

That was until Nino's arms mewled lightly.

"Kazu? Did your arms just mewl?" Ohno asked cautiously. He wasn't going to be mad about it - quite the opposite, really, but Pearl was obviously a bit upset by it.

He placed a hand on her back, trying to soothe her. It worked, and Pearl settled, though she didn't take her gaze off of the lump in Nino's arms.

Pssssssh. Abused, Nino's left foot. Ohno was perfectly well treated. Except maybe by the cats. The cats Ohno might have a point about - they were prone to being fussy and stealing all the space on the bed.

Nino chuckled as he sat. He waited for Ohno to take the first bite. Ohno's reactions couldn't be trusted, since he had apparent taste buds of iron, but they made Nino happy all the same. While Ohno was busy squirming happily in his chair Nino himself dug his fork into the pasta. He smiled to himself. It was pretty good tonight.

"I know," he said smugly.

Okay, so maybe Ohno did enjoy the abuse, at least from Nino. The cats on the other hand just kind of ran with it and took advantage. Aoi would definitely be learning all of Pearl's bad habits, he knew it.

The mac and cheese really was delicious. Despite his iron stomach and somewhat questionable taste buds, Ohno did know good food when he tasted it. He just had a tendency to ignore the bad food and just go with it. Plus, it'd won him quite a few bets in dance school.

Laughing, Ohno just shook his head, taking another healthy bite. "Years to prefect it, right?"

It was only natural that cat abuse was far worse than fey abuse. Cats were cats, after all, and ran things the way they damn well pleased. Nino couldn't compare - though he'd try to head off bad habit making in Aoi before Pearl got too many drilled into him.

Nino snickered, digging his fork into his pasta. "Something like that." He stabbed a few beans on his fork prongs while he chewed. "More like I just have that much talent."

Ohno had a feeling that if Nino actually tried, he could top the cats. Probably.

He quirked an eyebrow, but laughed, getting a few of the beans for himself and chewing happily. "I can't argue with that."

Tucked into his meal happily, Ohno's foot swung a little under the table, finally catching Nino's ankle to swing them together. "Other than rescuing kittens, how was your day?"
