Nino was sure that things would be okay.
He was also very careful to make sure they were on time - it was 6 on the dot when he and Ohno reached her building's front door and buzzed up.

He wasn't nervous for what Maki could do to them, no. He was nervous that there would be nothing they could do for her. The idea of being useless in this situation just tore at Ohno.
When they reached Maki's building, Ohno let out a soft exhale and squeezed Nino's hand tightly.
"Maki, it's us," he called out into the buzzer.

It meant Ohno and Nino were here.
She rose from the futon and hurried to the door, feet bare, wearing the loosest, most breathable clothing she owned and hit the button to unlock the downstairs door. "Come on up. It's the third floor."
Neither of them had been here before, and Maki wished for what seemed the millionth time that she was in a state to be a better hostess. She unlocked the door, and hovered at the threshold, resisting the urge to just...run. It wasn't what she wanted emotionally, just an almost overwhelming instinct.

Nino smiled as he caught sight of Maki in the doorway of her apartment. "Maki-chan."

First to go was the plate - he scooped it up and put it in the sink to wash, then moved back to Maki's opened futon. "Definitely a wolf," he murmured. "She wants to be outside."

Cleaning carefully, Ohno finished with a kiss to the top of her snout. He rinsed out the rag and left it to dry before moving to join Nino on the futon. "Too bad we can't take her out. Maybe one day we can take her up north to explore where it's safe."

It was a little annoying, but she submitted to it anyway, trusting Ohno, as much as she had trusted Nino to take the plate without a fuss. Had it been anyone else, Maki might have kicked up quite the protest, and digits might have been lost. But not here, not with them.
Still licking at her own snout here and there, Maki felt the need to pace through the tiny little apartment, into the bathroom, sniffing at the closet door, one of the windows in the living room, and the bottom crack of the front door before she wandered her way back to the futon, resting her head questioningly on Nino's lap.
