Nino jumped up and pressed the intercom and buzzer at the same time. "Come on in, Maki-chan. The door's open."
He waited five seconds to give Maki the time to open the front door, then unlocked their front door and pulled it open. Pearl came to wind around his feet, though she eyed the open door suspiciously and stayed to the far side of his ankles.

It was sort of a comfort just to hear his voice again. The door clicked unlocked and Maki slipped through it. She eyed the staircase with a wary look and took it at a slow-ish pace so that when she did get there she didn't look completely wiped out.
Nino was waiting for her at the door. Maki smiled to see him and she spotted Pearl and tried to project calm, un-threatening vibes, on the off-chance the cat could sense the wolf still so close to the surface in her. "Hi," she said quietly, pausing in the doorway, uncertain. "Sorry to drop in on you like this. I went to Bluebell but you weren't...there." Well that sounded lame. She blushed a bit.

He reached out, took Maki's wrist gently, and pulled her into the entrance - and subsequently into his arms. Pearl wound around both their ankles, and Nino urged the door shut with a flick of his fingers.
Nino held Maki carefully. She felt tired. Worn. Little spikes of pain flared and faded. Nino drew his hand through her hair.
"You can drop in whenever you want."

She gave a quiet 'Oh!' of surprise when he pulled her not only into the apartment, but into his arms.
There was nothing she could do but melt into it, against him. Her arms found their way to winding around his waist, her cheek to resting on his shoulder. The scent of Nino (and Ohno there with it, always), surrounded her. There was the comfort she'd needed, even if she couldn't have admitted it to herself.
It was embarrassing, the surrendering sigh that slipped out when he started brushing at her hair. "O...kay." Some part of her seemed to register, that part of the restlessness that had been irking at her since she'd been locked away in the facility began to settle. Whatever it meant, Nino helped. "I will."

He thought as he walked. Why was Maki stopping by like this? Them it hit him: the full moon. When he realized this, his footsteps grew quicker and in no time he was shucking off his shoes in their entry way. He didn't see them, but he could feel them.
"I'm home," he called out, dropping his bag and jacket on the sofa. He had a feeling They were in the bedroom. He could almost taste Nino's lingering magic and it made him worry.

She did manage a small smile when his hand brushed her cheek, eyes closing briefly once more until she heard the call of Ohno's voice and her head whipped around to the door of the bedroom when she sensed his approach. She was so caught up, it didn't occur to her that it might be prudent to untangle herself from Nino for the moment.

"Welcome home, Satoshi," he called back, hoping his voice didn't sound as tired as he felt. He settled Maki more comfortably against him. "We're in the bedroom."

It was then that Ohno felt Nino's weariness - he'd felt it before, when the fay had healed Pearl. Ohno had a funny feeling he'd done the same for Maki.
