Aiba was more awake than he usually was on a Monday afternoon, now that he was getting more used to the schedule he and Misono had worked out. He woke early, and showered, and even (gasp) tidied his apartment a little bit.
Then, Aiba had had Sho as an unexpected visitor the other day, and it only reminded him all over again that he needed to keep the place looking spiffy. Misono had been a huge help with that.
Speaking of Misono, she was likely downstairs by now, and Aiba still had to give her her paycheck from last week. He popped first down into the back room, and thus completely missed the surgery going on on his front counter.
Aiba grabbed the check, and then popped into the main room, being sure to appear on the customer-side of the counter, to avoid accidentally having some kind of body-meld with his employee. "Miso-chan! I have your pay... W-what is that? What are you doing?" There was a giant stuffed lobster being stitched up on his counter. Did he miss something?
Misono was so focused on her work that she didn't look up when Aiba appeared. She didn't even smile. "We're having a surgery," she told him. "Pinch got hurt. He had an infection so we couldn't operate right away but now that's better so we've gone ahead and put him under the general anestesia." She placed another careful stitch. The bright blue thread showed up very nicely against his red back. "He's going to have a very rakish scar."
"Surgery?" Aiba repeated, scooting closer to get a better look at what exactly she was doing. Noting the use of power to control stitching the blue thread. He didn't stop to question the details of what Misono was doing, Pinch must have been important to her to warrant such gentle care. "What happened to him?" he prodded in a hushed, concerned voice.
"He got cut open," she told Aiba "on Thursday. It was a bad night and I was distracted by Princess Fluffybutt and Pinch stepped in when Vampire Baby and I were in trouble."
That just didn't sound right for Pinch.
"Only I'm pretty sure he actually went to rescue a princess. From a crab trap." That sounded better. "He's very heroic. But he'd never say because he's really modest, too." She placed another stitch and then looked up. Aiba. She smiled. "Pinch is magic."
