Day 20 - The Character Who Is Most Like You
I actually was curious about this one. I think I have a pretty good understanding of myself but I asked a couple people (Kyle, Jasa, Mom, Dad, Sylvia) what they thought and, though I'm not exactly like any one character, I got basically the same two answers consistently.

Awww, I love your descriptions of how you are like Rose and Ten, especially your point about how Rose automatically expects her love to be reciprocated. A lot of people call that a flaw in her and say that makes her self-centered, but I think that's just human. We want to be important to the people who are important to us.

I love that gif! The scene totally should have been included in the episode.

It really is! Especially when she goes back "home" and Mickey is there and she just expects him to still be her...whatever he is, to come when she calls, to laugh or cry or talk or whatever she wants to do when she wants to do it, because why should he have moved on from her? Just because it's been a long time, and she loves someone else more than she loves him now? I share that attitude a bit. (unfortunately?)

You are absolutely right. It would have been the best scene in all of Who, obviously.

Your tags and I are having a p r e t t y steamy love affair right now, and I've got to be honest. There might be wedding bells in the air. I, uh. I think I can hear them.

Like, Martha wants to be; Rose expects to be. There are so many times throughout her run as a companion where she has a moment of "I thought we were" or "I thought I was," and when she comes back in s4 it hasn't even crossed her mind that the Doctor might have moved on, might not want her back. She's mad about him - she loves him, he's her best friend, he's the most important person in her life - so, in her mind, of course it's reciprocated. It better be.

I do not feel bad about the River joke. I love the River joke. I ACTUALLY TRICKED SOME PEOPLE FOR A SECOND WITH THE RIVER JOKE.

Anyway. I've talked enough about Doctor/Rose in the past--and will continue to talk about them long into the future-- that I don't regret using the day to make a joke. My thoughts are known. And, just sayin', you used your actual OTP portion of this blog on a mere gif. A supercute one, of course, but still.

But whatever, I still have a fancy-tickling day or two left, maybe I'll use one of those to talk D/R. (But probably I won't.)

That's a valid point. But I, like you, felt that I talked about them enough to justify not writing an essay for this meme day. Unlike you, I opted for something wonderful in its place. :-p

Your Rose meta is interesting, it's an interpretation I have not stumbled across before.

She's mad about him - she loves him, he's her best friend, he's the most important person in her life - so, in her mind, of course it's reciprocated. It better be. ...but... I mean... it is reciprocated. It's not like her perception exists in a vacuum based entirely on how she feels about him; she knows it's reciprocated because that's how he acts and how he treats her and she interprets things between them correctly (or within reason -- like her upset in School Reunion, it's not "how dare you not love me like I love you!", it's more "um if you don't then why have you treated me like you do?") I think there's a difference between being entitled, which is sort of how you describe her here, and just... having a healthy awareness that other people do care about you

See, I definitely think that part of that attitude in Rose is in the confidence you mention - she absolutely is comfortable in her relationship with the Doctor, she knows he feels for her like she does for him. I agree with that. I didn't mean that she has a sense of entitlement, which I think is a more negative degree of what I'm trying to say. It's more like when something happens to indicate that she's misinterpreted somehow, that would/does really throw her. And it hurts because it's like she's got her entire heart put in and she thinks the Doctor (or whoever) does too, and then Ten does something that like "oh wait lol can I borrow this piece back for a sec" and it's like...she would never take a piece back, ever, so why should he?

I dunno, I think that's more what I was trying to say. I might also just be talking in circles.
