In case you missed it, we will be reading How I Created My Perfect Prom Date by Todd Strasser this month. It also goes by the title Girl Gives Birth to Own Prom Date. It is currently on sale for Kindle for 99 cents. If that's of any interest to anyone.

And with that out of the way, it's all yours!

Hee, I started a couple of days ago but didn't get very far. It was very movie-esque.

I haven't read a whole lot this week. I finished The Amber Spyglass and reread The Moon By Night (spoiler: I still hate Zachary Gray), and I read a new book, All These Things I've Done by Gabrielle Zevin. I was pretty into it. It's a near future dystopia, set in a New York City where there are shortages and rationing and where chocolate and caffeine are illegal. The main character is Anya, who is the orphaned daughter of a mobster and his wife who was killed in a hit meant for her husband. She's trying to take care of her whole family and stay as far away from the family business as she can without getting killed and then she gets involved with the new D.A's son and this book was really just a set up for the rest of them where she's going to embrace her rightful place in the family business ( ... )

This week I read The Help which I have been wanting to read for a long time. I really enjoyed it and think it is a really great read. I also saw the movie on Tuesday (had most of the book read by then so I was happy...wanted to read it before I saw the movie). The movie was good as well. I thought it did the book justice for the most part.

I still need to try the movie. I was sort of worried based on the trailers, but I haven't heard anything bad.

It was good. It is obviously a more condensed version of the story, but I think it stays true to the feel of it.

I've seen it, but most of our worries were unfounded. It was a pretty good adaptation. I enjoyed it/would see it again!

I haven't finished much this week! I re-read Meet the Austins and now I'm re-reading the fourth Lauren Willig book. And I'm reading Lady Isabella's Scandalous Marriage by Jennifer Ashley, which I'm enjoying, but I'm not very far into it yet.

I want to do another Willig reread, but I think I'm going to shoot for next January unless I decide to write fic for real and then it might get bumped up. I'm looking forward to starting The Young Unicorns. I'd be looking forward to it anyway, but the lack of Zachary is going to be awesome. :p

I'm just re-reading this one, since I shouldn't really take time for a full re-read.

HEE! I'm looking forward to The Young Unicorns, but, alas, Moon by Night comes first! (Actually, I AM looking forward to that one, too, since it's been so long. But you know!)

There's actually a lot I like about The Moon by Night. I love the family stuff and I like seeing into Vicky's head as she starts to have her "wait, there's evil in the world" realizations, and I LOVE her relationship with her uncle Douglas. And Andy. But there's also just so much Zachary.

Dave Davidson is going to be such an awesome relief from that.
