Oh babe - that's completely the definition of asshole. Also, it's aparent he doesn't give a shit if your kids like him - no one ever made it anywhere with a kid by pulling a fast one on the parent they obviously like better.

If any of my father's girlfriends has said anything even slightly disparraging about my mother, they never would ahve gotten a word out of me for the rest of their relationship.

you can do all you want to not be that cliche, but sometimes you just gotta get it out.

The best/worst part is Jeff is retired 20 year military. I know everyone in the military doesn't have the character the recruiting posters claim but why can't he?

Everyone keeps telling me to let Jeff and Nancy shoot themselves in the foot...the kids know better. That isn't all that much comfort. My job as a parent is to protect them from evil but I'm powerless to do anything as long as Nancy approves it.

Id say you are doing your part to keep them from the evil as best you can, as long as you dont respond in kind, which i cant see of you. Nancy may well be (HA! Is, assuming [as I do] you are telling the truth in an un-biased way) falling down in her responsibilities as a parent, and yes, the kids will see right through the bullshit ( ... )
