WIP artproject 2014: part 2

Oct 12, 2014 19:39

A quick post before I forget that I have to make dinner in time to be ready for Heel Holland Bakt, the Dutch version of The Great British Bake Off, the only two shows I still watch on TV;) Here's an update on my personal paper art project, codename "JDM-wings"... If you don't want to see the work in progress before the big reveal in the near future, you could take a stroll to my photoblog for my visit to The Hague from Oct. 1st or check out my Nick/Greg picspam of CSI:S15Ep2. (You can still do those things even if you do take a sneak peek behind the scenes below;)

Part 1 was all about setting up the design, for this part I'm continuing with testing cut out shapes and sizes...

WIP, part 2: picking patterns

Rought pencil shapes, then careful cutting. Stole Tried a new knife from work, it's very thin and very bendy; it's ideal for curves! Need to work neater eventually, but since this is still a prototype in thin paper, I'm allowing myself wobbly lines;)

Cutting details. See me fuck up with the small feather shape. It's difficult to figure out which parts not to cut. Should probably make a bigger stencil to work that out and practice...

Making feather patterns. Besides cutting I'm also playing with folds and shadows. Don't know if I like it more with front- or backlight:) The shapes of the feathers will be adjusted later. Still playing;)

After a session I reward myself with some fiddle time with Jeff. It's obviously very important to constantly check for size and wonder about what he should wear. Am I going for a fierce or a sweet angel. Is he even an angel? Hmmm. Better check again. Decisions, decisions.

To be continued: wings WIP part 3 is up! Your concrit and feedback is appreciated:)
