This weekend I finally made time to try rabidfan's recipe for Thin and Crisp Chocolate Chip Cookies. If you followed any of my previous baking experiments, you already know I have no skills whatsoever when it comes to food preparation. (If you haven't, just check the cupcake experiment-tag;) Despite previous experience I always expect to magically turn ( Read more... )

Hey, as long as it tastes good, it's a success in my book. ...and now I really want to bake cookies as well.

Ugh, the US meassurements don't make sense to me as well. I usually use this site (http://www.onlineconversion.com/weight_volume_cooking.htm) to convert everything. You can actually pick what you are converting, so it should be more accurate. :)

Well, the cookie-dough already tasted FANTASTIC, so that was a win;) I put nine dollops of dough in the freezer, so I can bake more next weekend!

The site I used also offers different calculations for different ingredients, hence the difference for flour and sugar. Still not making sense though. But I'm glad I was eventually brave enough to change the rules myself;) *munches*

Yay for those cookies finally coming out right . . . but LMAO at the creeping-blob-cookie results in shots 5 and 6. O_o

As for creaming the butter and sugars by hand? Wow! You are hardcore and badass. And a much tougher chick than I! *clings tightly to electric stand mixer*

Heehee, yeah the blob-cookies were intimidating, but I'm glad I didn't give up and managed to find the problem:)

Mixing by hand sure is great exercise *stikes the pose of a bodybuilder*

Ah, from your pictures I see the problem...and Go You for figuring out the solution!...you use a toaster oven. They're not nearly as quick to reheat as they cool down from having the door open. It's just someting you adapt to and you did that beautifully! The cookies look yummy! Make sure you mark the recipe with the amount of flour you ended up with for next time!

You're not dissing my oven are you? It's been serving me ever since I left home at 18! *strokes it gently*

I made notes of all the changes I made. Plus I saved nine scoops of cookie dough in the freezer, so I can make fresh cookies whenever I want!

Oh, heavens no! It just explained the reason why the recipe worked one way for me and another for you! Baking is always something of trial and error. Why should cookies be different?

Mmmm...frozen cookies just waiting for the right time to be eaten! Perfect!

Oooo I am impressed! I probably would have quit after the first batch, I guess that is not the road to success, hee. Enjoy your delicious crisp cookies!

Thank you:) I must say I'm quite surprised I didn't throw a tantrum and quit half way through, but it helped that I had already managed to make yummy cookie dough to comfort me during the rest of the experiment *g*
