Days of Future Deadzone

This is a dystopian alternate future for the Transformers RPG Deadzone. The central premise of Deadzone is that Transformers from all major continuities are getting ganked to this strangely Transformer-less universe. They are banding together, as is their wont, to beat up the Transformers wearing the wrong symbol, as is also their wont.

How we get from where the game is currently (Earth) to where it is in my timeline (Days of Future Past) is largely speculation based on what we already know about the universe and arbitrary hand-waving.

Days of Future Deadzone

Unicron won. Rodimus Prime died, and the Matrix fell empty and dark into Optimus Prime's hands.

No more Transformers appeared on the shards of Cybertron brought from Gillanan III to the end of their world. But there was still a war to fight, still Unicron to stop.

Unfortunately for them, Unicron had followers, and Transformers were never good at endearing themselves to planetary populations in the first place.

Slowly but surely, they were whittled down, until one day, those remaining looked around and said, "We can't fight each other anymore."

Unicron killed more of them.

Now there are thirteen Transformers left alive, flying in a ship that still remembers how to be its pilot with a ghost who doesn't want to try for the Allspark with Unicron out there in the darkness. They have no future, they have little hope.

They are Transformers. They have resilience.

Why these people, Bex? I wanted thirteen Transformers for obvious symbolic reasons. I wanted it to be equally divided between Autobots and Decepticons, with Pee-Dee as the one person not in either faction. (She is a Junkion, as she will tell anyone who asks.)

Pee-Dee, Perceptor, Shockwave, and Needlenose were there from my very first conception of this 'verse. Similarly, Spinister, Emirate Xaaron, Rodimus Prime, and Scourge were all dead from first conception. ... Yeah, that is a lot of Luna's characters there. >_>

All of the other characters were selected based on a couple of criteria: I wanted one person in each faction who wasn't currently in-game, to give the feeling of Deadzone having gone on for a ways before things went to Hell. And I wanted to have as many different players as possible, so I didn't use any (non-Nebulan) alt-characters.

Also, I really like Nebulans, so all of them survived.

Pretty much everyone who isn't antisocial or super-cute quiet Decepticon couples got selected because of angst-value. Especially poor Blast Off and Optimus Prime. Arcee was picked out of all of Wingus's characters, because we were pretty heavy on the G1-variants so I wanted some more range. (We're still heavy on the G1-variants.)

Oracle got selected because keeping the precog around in the universe where the future is basically "if you're lucky, you just die; if you're unlucky, Unicron annihilates your soul" seemed like a great idea.

Did I mention this universe is an angstpocalypse?

Anything strange and weird with the survivors? Due to binary-bonding Spinister's Targetmasters on top of his own, Needlenose has an 'echo' of Spinister in his head. It's not actually Spinister, it's Singe and Hairsplitter remembering how to be Spinister. So, while both Needlenose and the echo of Spinister would like Needlenose to get over Spinister, he can't.

Pee-Dee is extra-crazy, not all of it because of the grim meathook future she's stuck in. (Part of it is having her boyfriend's head!)

Patra and Muzzle are sleeping together. Singe has nightmare trouble because of Spinister getting annihilated. Hairsplitter seems to be having a hard time viewing other people as people.

Oracle doesn't wear the visor anymore. Her optics have been gouged-out.

Duskwing, despite being dead, still stands watches. And complains about it, because Duskwing. (The living guys were insistent that if he was going to stick around, he could act like crew with the rest of them.)

Anything not strange and weird with the survivors? Shockwave is up to something, Red Alert is paranoid (because the universe is out to get them), and Wreckage and Skystrike are adorable.

Planning to write anything with this? Yes. Yes, I am. >_> However, first I'm writing my NaNo.
