Ozai licked blood from the corner of his mouth. The Water savage's ambush in the heart of his palace had been- well, a very good ambush. The swing of the man's club had nearly cracked his jaw, and it had sent him sprawling among the fire lilies.
When the sharp side of the club had come down, he'd only barely knocked it aside. The hook near the top had caught in his robe and torn the upper part off, baring his chest.
Baring the bird-shaped birthmark over his heart.
"You are not!" the savage said again, and Ozai snapped his hand up to blast fire at the intruder.
Chief Hakoda leapt to the side and threw his arms in front of his face. The move undoubtedly saved his life, but Ozai's blast still caught the right side of his tunic and shoulder. Leather and skin burned, and the dark shape of a bird-shaped birthmark on Hakoda's chest was revealed.
Well. Wasn't that interesting?

I think I've read a similar 'verse of yours (if it's a verse at all-- my delusional state of mind could be confusing it with something else entirely), but it escapes my mind at the moment. Help?

But they were sold out. She'd almost started bawling there at the ticket-counter, but Luna jumped into her arms and started purring. She'd still sniffled a little.
"Tsukino-san!" a familiar voice called, and Usagi turned to see Ami's gaijin boyfriend walking towards her. A slightly older boy walked beside him, white-blond hair down to his chin and just yummy. Ooooh.
It wasn't betraying Mamo-chan just to look, right?
"Takagi-san," she said, ducking a quick bow.
"You're one of Ami-chan's best friends, right?" he asked, eyes flicking towards the poster.
Usagi nodded. Ooooh! Was he planning something? He wanted her help! Well, of course he did! Minako wasn't the only senshi of love on their team ( ... )

"You can have them!" Silverbolt snarled. Air Raid and Skydive took a step back towards the door. Slingshot looked intrigued.
"Not one of nature's mothers," Ratchet drawled as he worked on welding the Aerialbot's abdomen back together. "Bit runty for their age, but carrying a quint will do that. They look healthy-"
Silverbolt covered his optics with his hands. "-And hungry. Air Raid, Skydive, get Fireflight out of there before they manage to do some serious damage."

Not a kid, he reminded himself. Your spouse. Your spouse who would rather be shagging First Aid, but is nineteen while First Aid is two. Your spouse who had to have Skyfire sit on him to keep from attacking Optimus when he decided they would have to go with human standards of legal minority.
"This is stupid, and we're not going to listen," Silverbolt had said.
"Just don't get caught," Prowl had said. "I don't want to figure out how to deal with this problem."
Slingshot wouldn't know subtle if it kicked him in the head, and First Aid was a sweet kid with bad taste in boys. Neither of them could hide very well, and one of them didn't want to.
Which was how the other ambulance got involved in this mess. Blurry photos of a jet snuggling with an ambulance could be waved aside nicely because they had an ambulance well over the age of majority ( ... )
