Prince Endymion brooded. The sun shone warmly, the air was fragrant with rich flowers, the beer in his hand was the very best. Yet his mind's eye turned again and again to the distant Moon Kingdom. He imagined the glittering spires, the rippling fields of golden grain, the wine flowing from fountains, the lunar silks, the diamonds and rubies dripping like baubles from pale hands.

The patronizing contempt the Lunars always turned on Terrans.

His people stood against the dark. His people lived and suffered and died so the Moon could be beautiful, peaceful, and perfect.

For what? Knowledge someone else had a paradise? He laughed derisively. Worthless.

"Prince Endymion." Nephrite, one of his four generals, appeared before him. "The stars have revealed something to me you may find of great interest."

Endymion's father had never trusted astrologers like Nephrite, but the prince well knew the value of his servant. "Show me."

Nephrite spread his hands, and starlight flared between them. It cleared and revealed a flowering meadow by a Terran river. A crystal chariot rested on the sandy banks, and a maiden in shimmering white plucked up a flower under the indulgent eye of an old soldier.

Endymion leaned forward, riveted. The Moon Princess!

"Where?" he demanded harshly.

"The Rubicon," Nephrite said softly. "The far side from our Land of the Rising Sun."

"Ready my chariot!" Endymion commanded, rising to his feet. "We have a long way to go, Nephrite, and a short time to get there."

Not really. I probably won't write it, though. More likely to do a Rubeus-centric Sailor Moon story if/when I get the motivation.
