Matron Ursa threaded silver wire through the demon-bone needle. Her patron lay on the altar, his heart still beating sluggishly in the grasp of the eight-bladed sacrificial knife.

Red eyes glazed with pain watched her approach, and she petted her Ozai's hair. "It will be over soon, darling. You won't have to worry about pain ever again."

Her nails prickled down his jaw, and she set the needlepoint at the edge of his lower lip. "Lloth will let me keep you if you don't scream, and I know how to keep a man from screaming."

She pinched his lips together and thrust the needle in.

...yep, just as dark as I thought it might go. Is it wrong that there's this faint thread of sweet under the horror?

There is definitely some sweetness. Ursa is going to a great deal of trouble to keep her Ozai.
