Zuko slinks from Azula's bedchamber, trying to wipe red from his pale skin. It's not going to come off, he thinks with some despair, and he's almost distracted enough to miss the ghosting shadow crossing the corridor ahead of him.

He pauses, because there is something terribly familiar there, then he follows as soft and silent as the Blue Spirit ever did.

He follows the shadow-man out of the palace entirely and up the road to the prison-tower. The guards who allow him inside go pale at whomever they see under the hooded cloak, and that is the first inkling Zuko gets.

The man goes up the stairs to Uncle's cell, and Zuko sneaks after him, the Blue Spirit without a mask.

Inside the outer cell, the man casts back his hood, and it's Father. Father stands there in Uncle's cell, and over his shoulder, Zuko can see how bright and terrible Uncle's eyes are.

They move like 'bent fire, closing the space between them, and Zuko is not sure if Father lower his head or Uncle raises his when their mouths meet in a hungry kiss.
