Hakoda jerks at the sudden invasion of personal space as an Asian man in an expensive-looking dark red suit pushes his way into the crowd at the roulette table. The man plants one hand on the green of the table to steady himself, his other arm going around Hakoda's shoulders.
Hakoda jerks even more at that, glaring at the man.
The stranger smiles, the expression drawing attention to full lips and a pharoah's beard. "Trust me."
Scowling, Hakoda puts a couple of chips on red forty-two.
"Oh, more than that," the stranger purrs, taking all of Hakoda's chips and putting them there.
"Hey, now-" He starts to say, but then the casino worker announced that bets were closed. "You owe me," Hakoda says instead, nearly shaking in fury.
The red-suited man laughs softly. "You'll find you owe me," he says, then flourishes a card from his breast-pocket. He doesn't let Hakoda see it as he disengages, but Hakoda can feel it as the bastard slips it into his back-pocket and takes a

The System Lord raises a hand covered with a a golden glove. In the center of his palm, a red gem pulses. "Zuko."
A shudder runs through Lee, and he gabbles in some alien tongue. Jet wants to hit him, hit him hard. Instead, he looks away. Filthy goa'uld. They'd been friends, they'd been through everything together. He'd dragged Lee out of a goa'uld creche and back to Earth, and-
And it had all been a lie.
"You think you can get away with disobeying me, Zuko?" The System Lord asks. "With trying to kill me?"
"Don't kill him," Ursa says from where she sits on the throne at the right hand of the one this System Lord had rested on.
"Of course not, my dear." A smile twists the System Lord's face, and the red gem flares white.
Lee screams, ragged and piercing, and Jet's eyes snap back to him.

"Ssshhhh," Urson says softly. His body is hard and heavy above hers, one hand pinning her wrists above her head, while the other caresses her breasts. "It doesn't have to be a fight, Oza."
Hakoda nearly spits as he comes out of the raided speakeasy, Bato on his heels. He's been shot at, shot, hit over the head with a bottle of moonshine, and it's damn near dawn. He doesn't need this.
Ozai lounges on the hood of his car, smirking. The mobster's pinstripe suit is impeccable, his hair and pharoah-beard neat.
"Yes," Hakoda growls, "A raid. Illegal alcohol. Smuggling. Shooting at cops. The usual."
"It's a dangerous business you're involved in," Ozai said musingly. "I do hope you can get out of it soon. Some raid you won't be so lucky, and then where will your children be?"
Hakoda snarls and lunges, and Bato only barely holds him back.
Ozai's smile is sharp enough to draw blood, and Hakoda loathes every second the mobster isn't behind bars.

1. The family Vegas verse? I smell plot. 2. I am in love with this universe. Can't wait until you finish the next window in. 5. STAAAAAAARGAAAAATE 6. .... I am actually feeling more empathy for Urson here. This has to hurt him too. 7. Plooooooot. 8. Metaphor. <3 9. Magical hammerspace blood? 10. Oh, Iroh.
1. Yep! I keep coming back to Vegas. Mostly because I suck at the old west. 2. Which will be Jeong Jeong! ... I have no idea what I'm going to do with Jeong Jeong. 6. It kind of sucks for both of them, since Urson and Oza have to consummate their marriage at least this once, and Ozai emphatically Does Not Want To. 7. Craaaaaaaaack. 9. He's a faerie, he doesn't work like regular people. 10. Bookends'verse. So full of pretty.

1. A Vegas is more than fine, too 2. Go for the easy firewall pun 6. Who's forcing them? Cultural thing? 7. With interesting system behind it. 9. I see. 10. Pretty pretty.
6. Cultural thing, yeah. Oza is a princess of the blood. Heck, if this were Earth Kingdom or Water Tribe, I'd throw in something about checking for signs of her lost virginity afterwards.
7. It's Twilight, bb. With actually evil vampires.
6. I do not like to write Avatar with twenty-first century values. I like to use something closer to what's appropriate given the cultures and tech-levels we're shown in the show.
Of course, I also think Azulon would be in there himself if he felt he had to be. Because he'll be damned if he lets Urson have an excuse to reject Oza.
7. Someone or other wrote a post about how, if you were going to have vampires endlessly repeating high school, then they shouldn't be bad at it. They should know how social systems work, they should be the ultimate mean girls.
Sorry I took a while to respond, I am currently in Spain and have limited internet access. My definite favorites were the SG-1 one (and considering Ursa is still there, she is presumably a queen and therefore the most awesome of the Goau'lds) and the Twilight one (when you act married but look seventeen, people are going to be so weirded out). Thanks for taking my prompt. I've gotta ask, though: what is bookend 'verse? It seems interesting.
Not a problem! I am less worried about people responding to these than I am to other things. (I kind of want to do more with the Twilight'verse, I don't even know why.)
The only other written bit of Bookend'verse is over here. spyridona made me some art of the titular bookends.
The 'verse itself is basically indulgent Hakozai and Irozai and Iroda.
