The sound of the Sentinels coming is like the sound of a million angry hornets. It makes Raptor's teeth rattle, and he has to close his eyes to keep from pulling the triggers on his mecha's guns.

He stands in the docks of Zion, strapped into a machine that's a duct-taped-together cross between Ripley's cargo-hauler and a Gundam. His ship is gone, his captain and her crew with it. There are things that have to be tried. Even if Zion dies today-

Inside his closed eyes, he pulls up the image of Blaze. He hopes to God and whoever else might be listening that she's doing all right.

Then he opens his eyes and raises the guns as the Machines breach Zion.
