"Come with me, young lady," the older Fire man says, taking her by the arm.

Katara instinctively tries to bend water, but he just flashes fire at it. Steam billows around them, and he drags her through the ship. She fights and protests, and he ignores her.

He lets her go as she shoves her into a cabin that can't be his and casually melts the lock of a trunk that definitely isn't his.

But he pulls out her sealskin.

She shrieks with delight and wraps it around herself, rubbing her cheek against the soft fur.

"Always hate to see someone trapped," he says, and she looks at him, really looks at him.

Stares.

"But you're-" she protests, because he's one of her people, her mother's people, only he's golden-eyed and burning, and-

"Different seas," he says with a shrug. "You should go before the prince comes."

She flees.

I love this so very much. So so much. 10 sentences and a world of story -- brilliant.

And oh god the Zutaran in me is just dying over angryjerk!Zuko stealing Katara's pelt while she's sunning herself naked on the beach.

And holy shit, does Ozai have his brother's dragonskin hidden somewhere in the palace? Oh, that bastard. And Zuko has no idea -- no idea -- why his uncle accompanied him on this painfully futile quest.
