Oh, God, Yana. I love this so much. It breaks my heart for both of them.

He stays determined and committed to action right until he's back in that room and watching Yana bullshit what's left of the human race into hope. He watches the earnest determination, the desperation and imagines he can see the despair beneath it. The Professor knows he's lying, Jack realizes.

::flails:: Oh, I can picture that so clearly. And I can feel Jack's conflict here, because, yeah, he knows who and what this man is, but who could look Yana in the eye and hurt him, much less break his neck? There's a part of me that wonders if Jack has any pickpocket skills and if he could just get rid of the watch.

Oh, yes!

Oh, AWESOME. Seriously, Yana is such a...warm, kind of absent, grandfatherly and awesome guy. It'd take someone a lot harder than Jack to look him in the eye and kill him.

There's a part of me that wonders if Jack has any pickpocket skills and if he could just get rid of the watch.

*whistles* This hasn't gone up in comms, yet. It's still fair game for another part.

Yeah.

Well, my day's just been made. *vbg* Not that I expect taking the watch to *work,* but a gal can enjoy the hope while it lasts, right? And more Yana fic's a win, anyway, even if my heart gets a bit stepped on in the process. :)

Oh, perfect. That's so Jack. Telling himself he's going to do it, going to kill the Master, until he's right there with him, and realises he can't. And I love old!Jack. And I love Yana so much.
This is the best bit:
He looks as old and tired as Jack feels, and more human than Jack can remember being.

Just one little niggle. I think you have a stray comma at the end of this sentence:
"He's not answering for all of humanity this, time."

I'm really, really glad this worked for you. The Professor is so damned awesome, and old!Jack is fun - and yeah. There's irony somewhere in Yana being more solidly human (at least in Jack's mind) than Jack is. And and. I'm babbling.

Mistake corrected and thank you for catching!

Damn! You mean I missed a typo? And I was so proud of Becky for not having any! *g*

Professor Yana just makes me ache. Really more than Jack, oddly. But Jack, too.

Thank you!

Mmm. Lovely story, poor Jack. Would also be intrigued by the concept of a follow-up.

Thank you! I really know what I want to do as a follow up - I just didn't want to commit or leave people hanging while I try to get my real life hammered into shape. It just seems rude, but I will, absolutely, get to it when I can.
