Also good idea about the portraits- I was getting frustrated with having them paint them and end up so fug. Honestly, whoever decided to change the portrait style from the sims 2 was an idiot.
Topher! Speaking as a completely impartial person *cough* I think he is hotness. Even if he does have enough nose to cover the rest of the family if they all happened to be hit by some sort of nose-related tragedy. And then some.

Oh, it's so much easier! I hate trying to get portraits in sims 3. With photos you don't even need a high photography skill, Ingrid and Goodwin only have about three between them!

My sims have had tons of kids from the time machine after woohooing in the past, but they've all come out as teens! So I expected this one to be a teen as well. No idea how/why Daniela came out a YA.
Yep. You can 'try for baby' in the past/future and the kid arrives out of the time machine the next day wearing a snazzy outfit. I read that if you try in the future the kid arrives as an elder, but in the past it's a teen or YA.
Oh man, I need to get a shot of Daniela from the side XD No nose AT ALL! My working theory is that Topher's face stole it. I totally get what you mean: he's big, he's in the habit of eating fish, he's... uh, greyish. :P
Amenhotep is the only member of the Beckett household who seems to have it all together.

So the androgynous friend is a girl, but the not!andogynous paper boy has become so to impress Topher with his girly hair. Give it up Elle, that boy is committed.
I like time machine babies because you get to skip the toddler stage! Although Daniela is the first one I've had who came out as a YA. I was expecting a teen!
I love Topher and his nose. I have a soft spot for big-nosed sims (esp since all of mine seem to end up with one!) That's dedication right there! I can't stand drinking milk, so I'll leave all that to you.
Haha! I honestly had no idea if that kid was a boy or a girl - didn't help that I couldn't remember her name. Poor Elle. Every chat interaction she tried with the paperboy ended up in a speech bubble about Topher :(

As an Australian I feel I should comment on how tiny that croc is. What the hell is that? I want some 20 ft long thing stuffed in that fishbowl!
