voice, boys before flowers, gundam 00

Oh, well, goddammit. Of course VOICE is just as enjoyable as Mei-chan no Shitsuji and Uta no Oniisan. Which means, despite that I have three dramas that I adore utterly this season, I still have to wait week to week for each of them. Add in the wanting each week for Decade and I'm going to claw someone's face off eventually ( Read more... )

I was really (pleasantly) surprised at how much I liked Voice. Often times the big hits of the season are not my favorites, but this one totally delighted me right away, even aside from Yuuki's role in it.

a;lsdkfja;lsk *claws at the walls* VOICE EP 2 HAS BEEN OUT FOR DAAAAAYS NOW WHERE ARE THE SUBS? SAME FOR MEI-CHAN NO SHITSUJIIIIII.

Also, I've been pining for subs so much that I actually started looking around for other dramas this season. (Despite that I have a whole pile from previous seasons. orz) Love Shuffle, Triangle, and Zeni Geba are the ones that sound either super fucked up or super interesting. Naturally, I'm sure subs will be coming at a glacial pace for them as well. orz (ETA: By which I mean, holy crap, am I ever spoiled and cannot even wait a week for subs? Sssssspoiled. XD)

We were really spoilt by the super-crazy-fast subs for Maou and Ryusei no Kizuna I guess XD but yeah, wants subs for Voice to better understand the medical terms lskdjflkdsjf

MEICHAN~~~~ Episode 2 IS GOLD! Hang in there, it'll be worth it when the subs come out XDDDDDDD that much I can say XDDDDDDDDDDD

Ah.. Zeni Geba~ that too I have downloaded but have yet to watch >_> From what I have read Zeni Geba is very dark, compared to the 3 dramas I'm following right now, so yeah, I'm gonna put off watching that this few days (Lets see how long I can keep up NOT watching it T_T)

Yeah, they came out within a single day sometimes and anime fandom does the same routinely (sometimes within hours of the raws coming out!) and it's hard not to get spoiled sometimes. Not that I'm not grateful, because I know it's seriously a lot of work. I whine because they give us so many nice things that it's hard not to want more of their work. XD

I WANT MEI-CHAN NO SHITSUJI EP 2 SUBS SO BAD OMG. What's really sort of making me claw at my own face is that I can trust Voice and Uta no Oniisan to get regular subs, even if they're not as fast as I'd like. The only person who's done softsubs for Mei-chan is someone who's said s/he's not sure that they'll do the whole series, right? So I'm kind of antsy about it.

Yeah, I've heard that Zeni Geba is supposed to pretty fucked up... which is what attracted me to it. I was curious to see if Japan could make something that was actually pretty fucked up or if it was not as bad as it sounded. XD

The way this series is filmed is gorgeous. That's one of the fun things about watching Korean shows, they certainly know how to ramp up the pretty.

I concur. It's the same guy who did Goong! I read somewhere that sadly this guy left K Boys Before Flowers after a certain point in the series, episode 6, I think. Now it's some other guy! :(

I think I remember seeing something about that, too, which really makes me sadface because it was so pretty. But, then, lots of kdramas are gorgeous, so I'm going to hope for the best with the rest of the series!

...You know, you're getting me slightly interested in Voice.
Which is bad, because I'm not sure how much j-drama my internet can take. ^^"

Ah, well, since Uta no Onii-san won't get broadcasted next week, I might download an episode of that one instead. ^-^ (Especially since it has Toma! And Endo Yuuya, who I still have in fond memory as "the guy who watched porn with Shirota Yuu while Wada slept between them". XD)

Voice is the one that surprised me the most this season, being so much more fun than I expected it to be. But I'm not sure if it'll be to your taste if you're not watching for the actors, which is a big part of its appeal, for me at least.

But, then, it's a pretty stellar cast, so most people are bound to find at least one person they sort of like. XD (I'd say Endo Yuuya's character has had the least amount of screentime so far, but I sort of love Teppei a lot, so he's fun to watch.)

No Uta no Oniisan next week? ;___;

Well, it's about people cutting dead people up, so I think I'll enjoy it. XD (I like medical dramas, in general, unless they're too cliché ridden and angsty. ^-^) I'll at least give the first episode a try.

Is Teppei Endo's character, or do you mean Koike Teppei?

No Uta no Oniisan! I think the channel has some kind of anniversary, or something? At least they have a special at the time UnO is supposed to be on because of something like an anniversary; so it won't be on next week, sadly.
(I think this was posted in the UnO community, but I'm not sure.)

I'm rarely fond of Japan's medical dramas, they just sort of. Don't quite work for me. But I really like Voice because it's only sort of a medical drama and doesn't seem to be trying quite so hard.

Teppei is Endo's character name, yeah.

Boo to no Uta no Oniisan next week! Like waiting just a week isn't hard enough, now I have to wait two? ;lakdsjfl;aksj *claws at the walls*

*flaps at you* I am all over Voice, I'm seriously considering watching that episode again just to coo over them more. They're all working incredibly well together, and the dynamics on screen are fantastic. Also, WAY TO MAKE ME FALL IN LOVE WITH YOU, SATOTOMOYUUKI. What freaking killed me was the very end of the episode, when the whole group are walking back onto campus during the credits, and Hanei put his arm around Teppei's shoulders. alskdhfga

I hadn't given much thought to Mei, is that good? Then again, I haven't yet watched Uta, oh my gods I'm so behind!

....s-sorry about the word vomit on you here, it's just. I'm kind of really in love with Mei-chan. >_>

Mei-chan no Shitsuji has been getting a lot of flak from fandom, as far as I can tell, but I kind of love it without irony. It is what it is, it's a drama based on a shoujo manga (no idea how accurate it is, but I'm taking it for its own thing) and it's fluffy fun. It's sort of delightful, I spent the entire first episode cooing at just about everything and spotting all the toku actors and thinking Eikura Nana was about the most adorable thing I'd ever seen and Satou Takeru is just. You want to pick him up and feed him cookies and maybe slash him with Hiro's character.

But also Hiro is just gorgeous in this drama, the butler suit kind of makes him even hotter than usual, so he's kind of on Kabuto levels of hotness for me here. If you're looking for something serious, this isn't it, but if you're looking for something fun with just a little bit of really solid acting, then Mei-chan is really good ( ... )

I was late in replying to this because I was off watching the first episode of Mei-chan no Shitsuji. I've never heard of the manga, but it makes sense considering the roses and the pampering and the vindictiveness and all those wonderful ridiculous shoujo tropes. I had to take a breather every time Hiro and Takeru appeared on screen together; I'm seeing all sorts of scenarios where their family of butlers are secretly ninjas who fight men in rubber suits, or where the two of them trade horror stories about voice-overs and body doubles, and it all just degenerates into hotness and slash from there ( ... )

I'm going to be terrible at responding as well, between Voice ep 2 finally finishing its download and finishing up my anime series and Boys Before Flowers ep 5 also just having come out. It's like-- like Japan is either trying to give us ADD by making us hop around from series to series or trying to give us an attention span by getting us to sit still for so many great series lately.

Mei-chan no Shitsuji: I hadn't heard about the manga before, either, but you can totally tell it's originally based off one (no idea how faithful it is, god knows Japan isn't that great at it, though) and it's got the whole ikemen buffet thing going on, but... well. It's shoujo. And the glasses thing is totally shoujo and just totally Japan and probably just every place that's ever produced fictional stories. I hardly really even notice it anymore and, w-well. I have to agree that she looked a lot better without them. As cute as the glasses were, they just didn't quite fit her style. Though, the super-short haircut is growing on me a lot ( ... )

The guy who does like, camera work or something for hanadan k apparently left? So the later episodes are more direct with the camera..

I don't remember anyone's names! I just call them like, Korean!Rui, etc. :D

I heard about that! Which is a shame, the camera work on the series was just gorgeous. Hopefully the new stuff won't be too bad or that we'll at least get used to it. But, either way, the cast is still gorgeous?

I'll probably resort to that with most of them, too. XD Though, I've got Jan Di and Jun Pyo down (which helps when I'm trying to remember who the hell they're referring to while watching XD) so I'll at least keep trying.
