Wow. So, after forever, it's back.

And I'm late reviewing because my friend was over this weekend so I literally only just finished watching. Usually I see what others have to say, think about it a while, then post a long, rambling review. But this time, I'm just gonna start writing and see where it takes me.

my favourite times with Baltar is when he's in danger, put a gun to his head and he can be a decent human being, give him luxury, comfort and power and he loses all that.

Very good point. I suppose it's weird, I want to say, "We're all like that, a little," because there's truth in the notion that luxury breeds the sense that we're above it: we don't have to worry.

But then I want to say the opposite is true at the same time, that sometimes we discover we're cowards when we're pressed and in danger, and we squirm and try to save our own hides, while it's far easier to be generous and caring when we're sitting in relative luxury.

And then I get the horrible question arise: which is better? In general, we tend to believe that when we're pushed, we see our real selves. That it's better to be good and kind when there's no reward than only when it's easy. Does that make Baltar a better person than many of us? Good lord, that's a horrifying thought! o.O

I AM INCAPABLE OF TALKING ABOUT THIS EPISODE NOT IN CAPSLOCK. I AM SO EXCITED THAT YOU POSTED. I AM POSSIBLY INCAPABLE OF EVEN READING THIS POST WITHOUT EXPLODING. OK I WILL TRY NOW AND DO MY BEST TO TALK TO YOU IN MY INDOOR VOICE.

I AM ACTUALLY STILL INCAPABLE OF NOT USING CAPSLOCK. I LOVE YOUR THEORY #2 SO VERY VERY MUCH.

And OH MY GOD do I love that it ended up with her pointing a gun at Laura. Those two characters so rarely intertwine. Really, it hasn't been since the Arrow of Apollo stuff... And that's another awesome thing that's been done by bringing Kara into the religious prophecy aspect even more strongly: irrevocably tied to Roslin now, because the search for Earth is both of theirs.

I ALMOST MADE IT THROUGH THE EP WITHOUT HAVING A TOTAL MELTDOWN. AND THEN THERE WAS THE LAST SCENE. AND THEIR MAGNIFICENT FACES. I AM POSSIBLY INCAPABLE OF HAVING SEX WITH THINKING ABOUT ANYTHING EXCEPT BSG EVER AGAIN ( ... )

THAT IS ALL RIGHT. THE CAPSLOCK OF SQUEE IS PERMITTED ON THIS JOURNAL! YAY FOR LOVING THEORY #2 - IT'S MY FAVOURITE ALSO, THOUGH I CANNOT CLAIM CREDIT FOR ORIGINALLY NOTICING WHO SAID THAT ALL OF THE FOUR WERE CHIEF RESISTANCE FIGHTERS ON NEW CAPRICA, THAT WAS SOME OTHER BRILLIANT INDIVIDUAL!

AND THEN THERE WAS THE LAST SCENE. AND THEIR MAGNIFICENT FACES.

MY ONLY COHERENT COMMENT IS: ZOMG!

AND OH GOD PLEASE TELL ME ABOUT YOUR VIDLETS. OR I'LL TELL YOU ABOUT MY NONEXISTENT VIDLETS. PLS READ MY NON-POST.

VIDLET #1 IS DONE AND SHOULD BE UPLOADED SHORTLY.

I don't really have a coherent plan for them: I just wanted to take snatches of audio from everywhere (probably songs) and make 10 - 20 second videos about...something key to that episode, to me so that at the end of the season I'd have a few minutes of footage that "recaps" my responses to the season. I have no idea how long I'll keep it up for: that'll depend on time, impetus ( ... )

I love the idea of having visual recaps of your ep reactions! you should really consider uploading stuff on imeem -- it's good for vid series because you can put multiple entries into a continuous playlist.

Opposite tools. Kara Thrace is the tool of the cylon despite being human. The final four are...if not tools of humanity, certainly heralds of their salvation despite being cylon.

I love the figure of "tools" because it = technology! one of the most fascinating and confusing aspects of the show's mytharc is the way that human and Cylon theology have been converging (like TV/Internet convergence!). I think this was always implied, but it's amazing how concertedly they're actually going there. I really believe that the endgame has to be humans and Cylons becoming indistinguishable (becoming US, modern Earth humans).

TORY IS HERE.

NOOO! Who else will share my insane love of TORY?!

runawaynun! I'm not going anywhere, though. BSG's magic will resurrect me into ZOMBIE FAN.

BRB!

1) They look each other in the eye. 2) Laura says, "I didn't like what you said, Lee, but I like what you did." 3) Love fails them.

I have no idea what twitterfic is, but this is lovely, regardless.

And I feel a cruel and icy knife to my heart that canon will probably not reward me with such beauty.

To me it just felt like watching a five minute exstension to the last episode of seaon 3 in terms of how much the plot grew and new information was given out ( ... )

I suppose I can see your complaint, but I guess, for me, the experience, the acting, the cinematography was all...just awesome. And I loved the vague return to early season one where you didn't get downtime. It was, if not "realtime" at least marvelously compressed to the point that you saw everything as it was moving forwards. Like the start of season two when we spent nearly two whole episodes surviving a single Cylon attack.

I think, though, that stuff did happen. We get answers as to Starbuck's experiences. We learn about her mystical sense that's directing her toward Earth and her responses to the jumps going in the opposite direction. That cliffhanger certainly moves the plot forwards ( ... )

first of all YAYBECCACOMMENTARY!

Second of all, posted in my own journal of course.

And finally, on to some of your points:

Tigh: I love that the crazy guy is more or less dictating how the Four will behave.

Chief: Yup, can't forget Cavil's words "Because I'm a Cylon and I haven't seen you at the meetings." Will be interesting to see where this goes.

Athena: Who?

Anders: Loved him. He was like a giant boy requiring a lot of comfort.

The Raider: I have always had the feeling that the Raiders and the drones are aware of a lot more than the humanoids. Scar in particular.

Zak/Lee: Remembering him was beautiful, as was all Lee had to say. Of course, after doubting him all last season and then watching him more closely in the previous seasons and then the culmination on the stand, well, I'll not doubt him so much anymore. Also, I want to feed him lots of donuts.

I shall be running over there after posting this!

OMG I KNOW!

He technically outranks two of the other three, mind. I wonder if the military issue will ever come into play? Probably not since he's as vulnerable as the rest of them if the secret is exposed...

Ha! I'd forgotten that was the exact quote, but yeah. That's a doozy in retrospect. I think they just genuinely don't know who the final five are, and Anders is right, Athena doesn't seem to notice either. Though she was hardly staring at him a lot since she sees him frequently. But then...the raider does which leads me to...

The idea of them being more primitive and therefore, in some ways, more instinctive and perceptive is a great contrast.

Yes that's it! I was giving them a bit more credit, intelligence-wise, but yes, this is exactly it. Like the cat that knows when someone is going to die. But with Scar, I think there was a greater level of intelligence and emotion. Like he was dolphin smart. Really pissed off dolphin smart.
