I had a good dream last night.

Or good to me anyway, considering it started with a "major character death" someone else might not think so. They might also be disturbed that I murdered the person with my bare hands. I was a little surprised I was that hands on. I've killed before, but I tend to use a weapon be it draconic breath weapon or gun. But I get ahead of myself. Set ( Read more... )

Is it sad that I'm laughing at the death scene?

Heh, sounds more suspicious than sad to me. That is it makes me suspicious you are picturing how very much I enjoyed ringing Elizabeth Turner's neck entirely too well. I didn't mention the vague feeling I had about her in my write up because it was just a vague feeling, but I had this feeling that she'd become something evil with a capital E. Like becoming the Pirate Queen and getting possession of the Captain of the Flying Dutchman's heart had corrupted her kind of like Galadriel told Frodo the ring would corrupt her ( ... )

*nods* You and me both, hun. Never liked Elizabeth much, and it got worse in the second movie. I've never been a huge fan of Orlando, but I really didn't want him to end up with her, so I know it wasn't a fangirl lusting thing, you know?

But yeah, the killing her thing was just SO cool.

I liked her in Curse of the Black Pearl, probably as much what she was doing in that dress as when Will thought she was still a good woman, but she started to get on my nerves in Dead Man's Chest. It just didn't get unbearable until I actually saw At World's End. Even if I hadn't seen the writers state Elizabeth was "the main character" some where, I'd have gotten it by things like a piece of 8 conveniently falling into her hands, and the systematic murder of men in her life (dad, Norrington, and Will). The character had a definite downward trajectory with me. I think the sense of her having turned evil might have come in part from having talked with some people about having heard someone refer to Pirates as "this generation's Star Wars." I'd been thinking it was sort of Original Trilogy with Will as Leia, and Elizabeth as Luke. I think with the dream I shifted to the thought of it being the Prequel with Elizabeth being Anakin Skywalker and Will being Padme ( ... )

Beware... once you go Bloom there is no going back. Take it from an expert.

Buahahahaha

Heh, not sure yet how much I qualify as having "gone Bloom." My favorite characters in the LotR are Boromir, and Aragorn. I mean with those 2 I've even actually read a little Boromir/Aragorn slash, and I barely read fanfic much less slash fanfic. While I simply didn't love Legolas in the LotR, I hated Paris in Troy. I went into the film just for Sean Bean, but I came out of it with a deeper appreciation Eric Bana. And, never mind that Orlando Bloom was the central character in Kingdom of Heaven, I'd forgotten he was in it until I went to see how tall the IMDb claims he is. I saw the film and all I remember of it is that I was disappointed by how little Liam Neeson and Jeremy Irons it had in it. Right now Will Turner may simply be the exception that proves the rule. Got any suggestions for other films with Orlando Bloom in them I should try to test that?

My favorite movie with him in it is Kingdom of Heaven. I kinda-sorta like him in Elizabethtown, but he doesn't shine playing an american in a contemporary setting. He's got that Errol Flynn thing about him that makes him more suited for historicals, imho.

Black Hawk Down was too small of a part, and I'm not overly fond of military anything. Although Eric Bana is very nice in that.

Wilde is also the tiniest part imaginable. But he's adorable in the 3 seconds he's seen. :D

I really didn't like Ned Kelly, at all. Didn't find any of the chracters overly appealing, which is too bad since it *could* have been ready-made slash. I didn't give a crap about any of them enough to do any subtext plotting.

Troy was just 'meh' overall. I didn't like the hollywood take of the story. The manflesh was worth it, though.

So yes... Will Turner and Balian of Ibilen for me.

His next, I have heard rumors is another historical (yay!) about Pompeii. I, of course will be seeing it. I love the time period, *and* Bloom is involved as a bonus. :D

I know I've seen it. fleta owns a copy of it, and I watched it with her while she was here. But, it didn't make a strong impression on me. Not sure if that means I should give it another try, or just be grateful it didn't make a negative impression on me. *Ponders.*

Sounds like I should check that out.

Heh, I've seen it more than once, I don't have a problem with things military, and I like Eric Bana and Ewan MacGregor. I did have to pay attention to catch where Orlando was in the flick. x_x

I keep meaning to see that because I'm a huge Oscar Wilde fan. fleta got me my very own copy of The Ballad of Reading Gaol for Christmas this past year ( ... )
