On Saturday the 30th, the digital thermometer outside the kitchen window said that the peak temp in the last twenty-four hours had been 104 F, which I took to be device error, maybe the readings were not accurate at unlikely temps? In fact, before the derecho that hit the DC area Friday night, it had been 104 that day

It's been awful here, but no derechoes, or even echoes of derechoes....
