I need to plan a trip!

It's really JUST occurred to me that I have a two week vacation from work starting in a week or two, which means I need to come up with something to do for that time! I'm in Europe. As my coworkers keep telling me - "tu dois en profiter", you have to take advantage (literally "profit from") the fact that I'm in France ( Read more... )

france calls to me, histories, spin the globe, i challenge you!, out and about

Italy, my dear! Especially Florence - all the art and architecture and everything else we learned about in Art History 101... XD

(Also, you should TOTALLY go to Prague and Budapest at some point. Both are supposed to be absolutely gorgeous cities!)

Oh yeah, Prague! I would love to do that... I may have to save it for one of the other two week trips, though. This one is filling up with plans!

I'm thinking now of taking the train down to Nice, but not all in one day. I'll stop in Lyon and perhaps Dijon, or any other nice place, for a few days on the way down... then maybe I'll go into Switzerland? I'm not sure! I'm thinking I might just do a general outline in my mind and then decide only a day or two in advance. ;) Extra adventure!

Italy~

... also, that cathedral photograph is making me phenomenally jealous. *sighs* I just want to go to Europe and bliss over architecture.

When (not if!) you get to Europe, definitely go to Rouen. It's a bit more off the beaten path, but very close to Paris. There are gigantic cathedrals, churches and abbeys everywhere - all gorgeous buildings - and a beautiful old down that's easily navigatable by foot. You can also see the place where Joan of Arc was imprisoned, and the spot where she was burned at the stake.

I will write a whole post on what I've seen so far in the city, but it's seriously worth a trip! Plus, the train station is right in the heart of things. You walk out the main entrance and BAM you can see the Joan of Arc tower.

I think I do have to visit Italy, now. >_>
