Sneak preview of that Draco time travel fic I've been working on...

Jan 12, 2011 21:27

Classes have begun! Already, my workload is crazy. My thesis should be getting written. I've kept up with my readings - so far - but then again, it's only been three days. My classes seem super-interesting, at the very least, so hopefully it won't be too difficult or onerous to keep up. :)

In the meantime, I've been finding solace in actually ( Read more... )

scholarly pursuits, scribblings, fanficcery

*Sidles up to this plot* Why hello there, good lookin'. Where have you been all my life?

This is.... ALKJDLKFJLDKJKFDJK. DUDE. Why hasn't anyone thought of this before? Why hasn't this been written before? WHY ARE YOU READING THIS POST AND NOT WRITING THIS STORY RIGHT NOW?!?!??!

:P

So yeah, I'm very excited to see this. I like the fact that you're going to have Draco retain his flaws (it just wouldn't be the same without them, or if he didn't have to work to get past them.) and that he makes easily-to-make mistakes from the beginning with befriending Hermione. It would make sense, since it's not like he would automatically know the back-story on the power-trio.

The little drabble speaks of wonderful things to come. Nice touch that Draco of course wouldn't experience the same sort of thrill and awe the second time around. He's no longer a child, he's lived through war, and this has all be done before.

So did I miss what you said, or is this Draco going to be in Slytherin still? I can think of both pros and cons both ways.

I do so love flawed!Draco. It makes his character arc much more believable if it takes him a while to figure out that hey, mudbloods are people too! (It takes him even longer to figure this out about muggles, but he'll get there... eventually.)

SPOILER
Yeah, Draco's still in Slytherin. I was contemplating having him (suppress a shudder and) ask the hat to be put in Gryffindor, so he can more easily get in Harry's good graces (Potter is, of course, key in all of this, to stop the Dark Lord), but I decided not to, in the end. The hat responds to his request by going "That thought is far too sly to not put you in SLYTHERIN" and Draco's all like "DAMN IT" and goes to sit as his usual table. ;) He still has trouble juggling his outer Slytherin image (plus matching interior) with trying to make inroads with people like Potter and Granger. ;)

I officially have a window of time where I can spend more time thinking about fiction and what I'm wearing to the school dance on Saturday than about physiology. (Medical schools have dances, too. I think this is the second of four, this one doubles as a fundraiser where I get to deal blackjack for a while.) That also means I'm going through the time-travel thing again and leaving commentary in colored writing, because my computer is NOT cooperating with the usual "this is what I changed" settings. I have an offbrand of Word and don't know how to make all the features go yet.

Compatibility problems and figuring out new programmes = hard. :P

I look forward to the comments! :D I shall make changes based on them and Kuiskata's, then write some more, then send it out again after a few weeks, I think. ;) I'm going to be crazy busy this semester. D:

After Redwall, Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, X-men was one of my strong fandoms when I was younger. :3 Ah, memories...

Hi....I was just searching for good Draco-redo fics (because there has to be a good one somewhere right? Right?????) and stumbled over this post...did you ever write this one? It sounds like this could finally be a story which avoids my usual pet peeves.

Unfortunately, I never did write it out fully! I did get a BIT further, but not much, I think... And now grad school is killing me. D: Sorry.
