Sneak preview of that Draco time travel fic I've been working on...

Jan 12, 2011 21:27

Classes have begun! Already, my workload is crazy. My thesis should be getting written. I've kept up with my readings - so far - but then again, it's only been three days. My classes seem super-interesting, at the very least, so hopefully it won't be too difficult or onerous to keep up. :)

In the meantime, I've been finding solace in actually ( Read more... )

scholarly pursuits, scribblings, fanficcery

I officially have a window of time where I can spend more time thinking about fiction and what I'm wearing to the school dance on Saturday than about physiology. (Medical schools have dances, too. I think this is the second of four, this one doubles as a fundraiser where I get to deal blackjack for a while.) That also means I'm going through the time-travel thing again and leaving commentary in colored writing, because my computer is NOT cooperating with the usual "this is what I changed" settings. I have an offbrand of Word and don't know how to make all the features go yet.

Compatibility problems and figuring out new programmes = hard. :P

I look forward to the comments! :D I shall make changes based on them and Kuiskata's, then write some more, then send it out again after a few weeks, I think. ;) I'm going to be crazy busy this semester. D:

I got pulled into watching Xmen and eating brownies with my roommate. It was not much of a struggle. /recommences reading

Also: when the heck did it get past midnight? I have class in nine hours.

After Redwall, Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, X-men was one of my strong fandoms when I was younger. :3 Ah, memories...

Redwall was a fun, FUN series of books. I think Taggerung and Mariel were my favorites, but all of them were fun (until I read Rakkety Tam and went "this is Pearls of Lutra but less awesome).

Taggerung was my absolute favourite. My first copy got so worn I had to duct tape it up so it wouldn't fall apart. I have a nice hardcover copy of it now, too... which I should reread if I ever get the time.

Taggerung had SO many good things going on! I still read parts of that because I love those characters, and it's one of his way more mature stories-- not even for the age of the characters for the way that the plot fits together and he blasts apart the traditional "vermin are always bad unless I decide otherwise." (Just for the hell of it, I wrote an alternate-discovery-mode because Nimbalo is very, very fun to write.)

... Could you link me? I love alternate discoveries/reveals! :D

It's not posted anywhere, it was purely a "huh, this completely could have gone a different way and I like these characters" thing. I can send the .doc file later if you're interested. Right now I'm doing a last check of e-mail before I make the big transformation from "nerdy college student that primarily shows style through nice t-shirts" to "hey, I got this dress in high school, it still fits, and it's the only thing I own that's suitable for Vegas Night." PLUS MAKEUP. This is a big deal for me, since I only started using eye shadow on rare occasions last semester, so it's going to take way longer than necessary.

I would love to read it. :)

I still don't really use makeup, like at all, except for the occasional dab of concealer. The most I ever wore consistantly was when I worked on the Midway at Fort Edmonton. It's a lot of lipstick and eyeliner: http://www.google.ca/images?hl=en&rlz=&q=1920s+makeup&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=univ&ei=hwUyTcTbEYyt8Aacp_mFCQ&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&ct=title&resnum=1&ved=0CCwQsAQwAA&biw=1280&bih=685
I got really, really good at applying lipstick. :3

"I would love to read it. :)" It's two not-quite-transitioned chunks of story, but I think Nimbalo sounds right. He was most of the reason that the story ended up happening ( ... )

I think that one of the best ways to use makeup is to make it look like you're not wearing any at all, at least for the everyday stuff. ;)

"I have no idea if the guy that may or may not be interested me really noticed-" I hope he did notice you! :)

The most obvious makeup I wear is lip gloss, and half the reason for that is that Michigan winters are very, very hard on skin. My lips usually chap up until they bleed, then they heal and look fine for a couple weeks and start all over again. That happens even when I do remember to keep chapstick ready almost constantly.

The guy had previously mentioned that it was rude to stare at a woman's legs or chest, so he noticed hair. I also have his "most favoritest" hair, and last night my hair actually cooperated. Usually it's all about the chaos theory, but yesterday I hopped out of the shower, started reading a book, forgot about it... and it was awesome. It actually curled NEATLY, instead of having handfuls in spiral curls and the rest mostly straight, and stayed that way all night.

I think my hair likes him, which honestly is for the best. One of my friends is convinced that my hair tried to kill her, because we were on a roller coaster and it tangled on her neck. (It was waist-length at the time, so it had room)

"forgot about it... and it was awesome. It actually curled NEATLY, instead of having handfuls in spiral curls and the rest mostly straight, and stayed that way all night." I love it when hair magically cooperates. It's all the more spectacular for its rarity... ;)

I definitely appreciate it when my hair cooperates. I'm not at all a fussy person about appearance, so I generally let it do what it wants and get annoyed when little wisps of it stick out all over my head when I was trying to have a neat-ish ponytail.

I also don't have normal sensation or something. I don't know. I think it's from having my hair brushed all the time when I was little. It tangles if someone looks at it funny, and I had really curly hair then, and I remember hating brushing more than about anything. I barely know when people are pulling my hair. The few times I've had it up in something fancy/tight, people would be constantly apologizing for pulling my hair. Me: "you're pulling?"
